Somsak was a strict teacher — not out of useless perfection, but out of balance and need for order. The more Namjoon observed him, the more he noticed there was a certain aggressivity hidden beneath his actions. Not necessarily raw force like Aaden's but more like a rubber band, ready to react at any given moment and in full force.
Leah was sweating after spending the last couple of hours wielding her machete to perfection under Somsak's attentive gaze. She was pretty certain she had never used weapons before and the thought had truly terrified her initially. However, after listening to the story about the docks and having heard of wild animal attacks, she thought it was best if she knew how to defend herself at least. She doubted she could stealth her way out of a cougar encounter.
When Somsak allowed for a break, her right arm seriously shut down. She thought if she had to raise it again in the next five minutes, she wouldn't be able to, even if there was a cougar nearby.
She grabbed the water from her backpack and drank harshly, then she lay on the floor, completely ignoring the dirt, leaves, ants, and whatever else. She just needed to shut down for a moment. The atmosphere was so damp and hot that she thought it felt fresher on the ground under the shade like that.
The three men observed her sprawled on the floor like a sea star as they drank their own water and ate a bit.
"You're getting better fast," Somsak commented in a neutral tone, which Namjoon already could read as interest.
Jungkook didn't react aside from his eyes locking in the treelines, absorbed by his own thoughts. "Thanks," he ended up murmuring.
"Have you decided, then?"
Jungkook raised his eyes to him and nodded silently after a careful moment. Leah was looking at him from the floor and Namjoon heaved a silent sigh. They had a plan, a good plan, and he could only hope it would go smoothly and swiftly. He also wanted to recover quickly so he could help.
"Good, it's noticeable. But maybe not everything is quite in its due place yet."
Jungkook furrowed his brow, "Why?"
The corner of his Somsak's lips twitched slightly, "Let's see in a bit. Aaden should be here any moment now."
Everyone wondered about that, and indeed they didn't have to wait long. In less than ten minutes, rustles could be heard from within the treelines, and a bit later Aaden showed with large steps. An impetus walk for a powerful guy. Namjoon distinctively thought that he had raw power that was intimidating. Leah felt uncomfortable and decided to get up.
Aaden seemed to notice her then and extended a hand to help her up, which she took.
"So sharks in the sea are not enough, fire ants are your next thing?" He teased with a half-smile.
He never failed to provoke her and she had the impression to always respond to it. It wasn't any different this time, "Maybe. What are you going to do? Carry me over your shoulder?"
Aaden laughed, amused, "If that keeps you from being bitten, why not."
Somsak had an arched eyebrow, Namjoon was trying to figure out their conversation, slightly uncomfortable, and Jungkook tried relaxing his increasingly tensed body.
Aaden passed by them without a care in the world and placed his things on a wooden bench. "How was training today?"
"They made some progress," Somsak retorted quickly. The trio felt like observers. "Lamar thinks Leah is given to stealth and Jungkook to close assaults." Aaden was unequipping himself and glanced at the duo. When he glanced at Leah, he couldn't suppress a small smile. "How did the talk go?"
