AN.: I'm soooo excited about this chapter and the next 😁💜
"Hey, man. Good to see you," Jungkook said with a hint of relief in his voice as he grabbed onto Aaden's hand for a quick shake.
Aaden patted his back, "You too." He took a glance at his left arm surreptitiously, "That's some tatau you've got there." Jungkook gave a short nod, checking behind Aaden if no one else had followed him through the jungle. "Who knew how far you'd come."
Aaden's expression was hard to read, but Jungkook wasn't phased, "You did, you trained me."
Aaden's lips twitched into a smile as he patted Jungkook's shoulder again, "Why are we here?"
"Well, you know the place," he said quietly. He had only told Aaden the place was five minutes to the south of Amanaki and that he had something to show him, yet Aaden was right there, at the entrance of the cave.
"I assumed, not much else to the south," he shrugged, lowering his hand.
Jungkook nodded, then waved him to follow. He had called Aaden there himself, he trusted the warrior with it. He filled him in as they walked inside: Ethan thought of the boat, Jin and Hoseok were fixing it, the wiring was screwed, but it looked structurally sound, and they had gotten Jimin five days ago.
Aaden could hear the other two men bickering as they worked somewhere inside the boat. He admitted, "I'm a warrior. I know next to nothing about boats."
"You have sea waves and sharks on your tatau," Jungkook murmured unconvincingly.
"I'm a fast swimmer; and fierce and resistant at assaults," Aaden chuckled, brushing the shark on his tatau.
"Ahh, seriously," Jin stormed up the stairs, reaching the box with their food and drinks on the deck. He nodded at Aaden, having met him before, and downed a full bottle of water.
"What is it?" Jungkook asked.
"The wires are being difficult, and I'm too hot," he grunted, fanning his hands as he tried regulating his breathing. The sheen of sweat covering his face and wetting his tee shirt were evident on his chest and down his stomach.
Aaden nodded, "Because of the burn? How are you feeling?"
Jin groaned, "The cave is cool, fortunately, so it's okay. Unless I'm getting pissed."
"Hyung! I got it!" Hoseok shouted from underneath.
"Coming!"
"What are you doing?"
"We're trying to replace all the cables we can."
"How? Without blueprints?"
"We tie a knot to one end, then pull it to the other. It doesn't always work because some are just rotten and fall apart, but so far so good. But now, the knot got stuck somewhere in a junction I couldn't reach, and then I started sweating and—" He huffed, then nodded before turning to head back down, "But Hobi got it, so it's fine."
He shouted something as he got down the stairs, and Aaden nodded, "That's smart."
"Yeah... Namjoon would have thought of that on day one," Jungkook muttered, looking down.
Aaden placed a firm hand on his shoulder, "They're doing good work." Jungkook nodded, looking around. At least it was clean, and they could breathe properly while they worked on and under the deck. "And Leah?"
Jungkook nodded; he hadn't mentioned her yet, and he should have known Aaden would ask. "She's back at the clinic. She's been helping, but today she decided to stay there. Things have been a bit tense."
