Namjoon was staring at the blade on the bedside table while the door closed smoothly behind Leah. Jungkook knew this because he was, in turn, staring at said door. Did she just say see you tomorrow?

He didn't realize it, but he was half-way getting up from the chair and completely turned as if ready to go after her. Namjoon noticed it and tilted his head slightly.

"Is everything okay?"

Jungkook turned back to him as if shaken awake. Then he frowned, confused, but nodded as he sat back down, "Yeah, sure."

"So you were saying?" Namjoon grabbed a water bottle from the other bedside table, the one that didn't have a huge knife on it.

Jungkook was explaining what had happened since Namjoon was shot: how they managed to get to that village, that clinic and how he got treated.

"Wow, you carried me all by yourself?" He was surprised. "Wow, I don't know what to say... Thank you, you—"

"Don't." Jungkook really did not like receiving thanks for things like being a decent human being. He raised his hand and interrupted his hyung, something he rarely did. "There are more important things you need to know."

He explained everything Daniel just told them and Namjoon heard him attentively, trying to make sense of it, just like Jungkook and Leah had fifteen minutes prior. He waited patiently for the whole information. When Jungkook let his head drop backwards in exasperation after finishing, he started reflecting out loud.

"This is not going to be as easy as I thought..."

"You thought this was going to be easy?" The youngest asked, shocked.

"Not really, no, but I didn't know what to expect," Namjoon smiled with a hint of playfulness, but Jungkook just frowned. "You have to keep your cool, Jungkook." Serious leader Namjoon was talking, and he couldn't help but perk his ears. "If you rush into a situation or impulsively make a decision, we could risk our lives, our way out of here or worse, the others. Do you understand?"

Jungkook was nodding, despite the frustrating feeling of helplessness. He was aware that any move could have unforeseen consequences that he couldn't risk.

"I know... I was freaking out about it earlier," he admitted, not looking him in the eye. "Leah kind of... kept me grounded."

Namjoon glanced at him and stayed silent but Jungkook didn't elaborate. It wasn't even once or twice she'd done that that day. She had really come through for him in more ways than one.

"Why did she leave, by the way?" Namjoon asked, after starting to nibble at his chocolate cereal bar.

Jungkook glimpsed at the closed door and didn't answer. He was confused about it, he really didn't know. He thought she'd be happy Namjoon woke up and that she'd want to be there for their talk. Well, she said she was happy, that was not the issue. As for why she left...

"She probably just wanted to give us some time," he finally said, ending up staring at the door again.

Namjoon sighed when the chocolate chips started melting on his tongue. He was starving. "Didn't you two work as a team?" Jungkook nodded. "And she kept you calm?" The youngest puffed. "What did you say to her?"

"What?" Jungkook looked back, confused.

"People are curious creatures." He finished chewing that bite before continuing. "You didn't say it, but I could see it. In twenty-four hours, you two have been through more traumatizing experiences than most people in their entire lives." Namjoon waited for his reaction, but Jungkook seemed to be listening to him carefully, so he continued. "The way you called for her... You know, most people overthink their interactions with other people. In the end, we're all animals, we all have instincts. You called for her like what she was doing was unexpected, because in one day you got to know her, on a subconscious level," he pointed to his own temple. "Do you know what I'm saying?"
