After passing the written test and the re-examination, I obtained the letter of admission to the School of Translation that I so desired.

During summer vacation, Mu Chenghe took me to his mother's house in City B.

That day was his grandfather's 90th birthday. Actually, I didn't want to go, not because I was afraid to see his mother, but because Mu Chenghe had previously fallen ill and was just recovering. However, I couldn't bring myself to let him drive, and the two of us ended up taking the bus.

I had already taken the bus to B City twice before with Mu Chenghe, but the mood both before and after was quite different.

When a birthday banquet is held at home, only the family is usually invited.

As we were about to reach the house, I saw a girl greeting guests at the front door. Immediately her eyes fell on Mu Chenghe as she approached her, her face lit up and she shouted into the house with a smile, "Mom, Dad, my brother has come."

Is that Jiang Dongan?

I looked suspiciously at Mu Chenghe and then at the person in front. Mu Chenghe subconsciously lowered his left hand and held me, then proceeded to introduce me.

He said, "Dongan, she is..."

Before he could finish speaking, Jiang Dongan rolled her eyes, tilted her gaze, and in a sweet voice called out to me, "Sister-in-law."

It wasn't just me, even Mu Chenghe was a little embarrassed.

As soon as I entered the living room, I saw Mu Chenghe's mother, who, hearing Jiang Dongan's call, had come out of her study. I awkwardly managed to smile at her and wave to her.

This is the third time I see her, the first time was for my father's commemoration, back then she gave me a bouquet of flowers and hugged me. Who would have said that fate would find us again. And the second time, it was at the Spring Festival this year.

After introducing me to the whole family, she asked Mu Chenghe and me to come into her study, then she sat down next to us, obviously wanting to chat with us for a while.

"I heard Xiaohe say, are you still going to study?" Mu's mother asked.

"I'll sign up next month," I replied.

“I remember last time you said that your mother also lived in City B, and since I was busy with work, I couldn't get in touch. I thought I should have visited her first, but I was afraid it would be a bit abrupt since Xiaohe was not present."

I didn't know that Mu Chenghe would tell her so much about me, so I perked up and chatted with her.

She then rambled on about many household things, all in a very polite tone. I could feel that she was trying to be nice to me. Perhaps, at this moment, she is as nervous as I am. Thinking about this, I suddenly felt a lot of empathy.
