Jungkook was too hot and almost groaned with that awareness; he was sweating again. He felt movement next to him and that made him sigh, surely Tae or Jimin were in his bed again to take a nap. He dragged himself further to the edge of the bed and turned his back on whoever it was with a quiet whine, deciding not to make a fuss about it. It was hot and he was hot, but somehow he wanted that closeness. Whoever it was gave him a comfortable sensation of togetherness that he desperately needed.
But he couldn't fall back asleep and ended up turning to the ceiling after about ten minutes of being unsuccessful. By then he was completely awake and his dreams dissipated. He finally looked to the side and saw Leah's long wavy hair, which he expected. He decided not to budge and stared at the ceiling instead, thinking.
Soon after Leah turned to him and placed her head that had fallen off back on the pillow. He seemed distracted, but she still said, "Good morning. How are you?"
He turned his head to her. "Morning, I feel good, you?"
She sniffed, closing her eyes. "I was having a bad dream," she murmured with a deep breath. "But I was able to wake up."
When she looked up his expression was gentle. "Good."
They were quiet for a while, each staring at the ceiling, until she asked "Do you think it's sunday?"
He frowned, "No, it's thursday." She smirked, keeping her spirits high despite being so lost in time she didn't even know the day of the week. "Why?"
"I could really go for some pancakes," she joked, stretching.
"Well, I don't know about pancakes, but we could have those yogurts again."
She agreed and they both got up. She unhooked her nearly empty IV bag from the pole to go to the bathroom and when she came back, she grabbed a yogurt pot and stood next to Jungkook. He was now observing the map as she had left it on the desk. She hooked the bag back to eat comfortably with both hands as he hummed.
She pointed at the faintly marked spots on the map, like a Temple and what looked like an old church or a tower. He nodded and traced the rivers and the mark of Omani village.
"I find it weird that there are no other villages on such a big island," he commented.
"Me too. Maybe they're just not marked."
A knock on the door interrupted them and knowing it was Ella, Leah opened the door instantly.Daniel entered as well right after Ella.
After a few pleasantries about how they felt, how they slept and what they thought of the house, Daniel seemed to wait while Ella finished evaluating them.
Ella was done after counting Leah's pulse. "I think Jungkook doesn't need anything anymore aside from a pill or a tea every once in a while." Jungkook smiled widely, feeling very content. "Leah, it's hard to tell. You don't have fevers, blackouts or the usual withdrawal symptoms anymore." Leah nodded in silence and Ella turned to Daniel. "I think they're good to start, but do it slowly."
Daniel opened his arms widely, "Great news!"
"Start what?" Leah asked. Jungkook's heart was pounding in his chest.
"What we talked about yesterday, of course — the way of the jungle." Daniel noticed Ella's look and quickly added, "I'll start easy: how to navigate, walk, dangers. It's important you take a few days to know the region before you venture out, even with a map."
All of them agreed, even Leah, although she was nervous.
"I'll leave you to it then." Ella pulled out Jungkook's needle gently and then moved to undo the bandage covering Leah's catheter.
