That lesson went... mostly well.
They didn't really do that much work, and Miss Cecilia was just going through what they will be learning throughout the term and handed them their timetables.
Of course though, thanks to Lyra, now everyone knew that Orchid was a 'Watcher', her reputation officially ruined, she might as well go back to the orphanage and bury her head under her blanket for the rest of her life.
"That will be the end of this lesson everyone! You now all have Individual Abilities together in the Training Arena, see you next week!" Miss Cecilia said as a siren rang in the background.
"That was an amazing lesson, and an even more amazing class you had to unofficially give me Everbloom, I love being a Watcher." Orchid glared at her.
"Hey, that was a good excuse, she won't pester you again now, well, okay, she still will." Everbloom grinned.
"Anyways, in other news, let's talk about me, I can't wait to show you guys the new tricks I learnt over the holidays!" Iris said excitedly.
"And I'm so excited to see them." Everbloom said sarcastically, receiving a full blown lecture from Iris.
"Wait, I thought it was individual training though?" Orchid said, anxiety beginning to settle in.
"Well, we all basically have to work on our own powers, but we are all together in the arena, what's the problem with- oh." Everbloom realised.
Orchid checked her timetable which unfortunately showed that she is in the same class and that she had no excuse to not participate.
Orchid went through a full mental breakdown and when they reached the arena she realised.
She could just pretend that she was a Watcher and not do anything at all!
"Everbloom! Don't worry! I will just take my Watcher role a bit more seriously!" Orchid whispered excitedly.
Everbloom looked back with an apologetic grin.
"Uhh, did I forget to mention that Watchers have the ability to also allow others to see the forces of magic as well?" Everbloom said.
"Wait what does that mean- oh no." Orchid said.
How was she going to be a Watcher if she couldn't let others see forces of magic as well!
She was going to be exposed the second she enters that arena.
"I'm doomeddd." Orchid groaned as they walked into the giant training arena, where a man, who seemed to half wolf was waiting for them.
"Hello fellow students! I am your teacher, Mr Nighthowl, and I will ensure you will be SUPER POWERFUL by the time we're done with training! Now, most of you already know me, but, you look new, what's your class?" He peered at Orchid.
Yup, she was doomed.
"Um, I'm uh-"
"Excuse me Mr Nighthowl." A melodious voice cut through the air, Orchid breathing a sigh of relief.
"Miss Elvina! Why, lovely to see you!" Mr Nighthowl gulped at the principal's glare.
"May I please take Orchid here? She doesn't require your training at the moment, she's under... special circumstances." Miss Elvina said.
"Of course! Off you go then!" Mr Nighthowl shooed Orchid away.
As Orchid walked out of the class she could hear the class whisper to eachother.
'She's just a Watcher, last year we had a Watcher and they still had to be in this class.' She could hear rumours going around the room.
"Now! Back to training! Let's start with getting out your abilities!"
Orchid followed Miss Elvina out of the training arena, the tension was really awkward, both of them silent as they walked down the halls.
"So, how are you liking Etarnaya Orchid?" Miss Elvina said, breaking the ice.
"It's, nice, but it's very different." Orchid replied.
"That's good." Miss Elvina said, and the two went silent again.
Miss Elvina led Orchid over to a quiet, isolated part of the school.
The atmosphere was dark and musty, yet glimmers of sunlight shone through the windows of the corridor with a majestic wooden door at the end.
A small golden plaque was fastened to the door, reading, 'Miss Elvina's Office'.
"Instead of going to the arena for individual abilities, I would like you to come here." Miss Elvina said as she opened the door, "I will be your private tutor, despite me not being a Light Walker, I have studied them for years, so I can assure you that you will get to practise your abilities here."
They walked into the office, the walls seemed to be a thick layer of plants and vines, with large golden paintings of strange creatures hung upon it.
Miss Elvina walked over to a small statue of a phoenix with scarlet jewelled eyes, which looked out of place compared to all the earthy tones and vibe in the room.
She muttered a strange incantation and the floor beneath them started to rumble.
The floor sunk into the ground in layers, creating a staircase, Orchid having to dodge out of the way before she was pulled beneath with it.
"Follow me." Miss Elvina said and walked down the stairs.
Orchid tentatively took a step forward, and with a deep breath, she followed her down.
