Via walked circles around the room in frustration fiddling with her pearl necklace, "Why isn't it opening the exit, it's meant to let you leave!"

"How does it even work, could I try something to help?" Orchid said nervously, not wanting to anger her more.

"I suppose, you are the one trying to leave after all, if you I guess reassure yourself that it is safe to leave, then The Deep might realise that it is safe too." Via said before going back into her mode of concentration to try the spell again.

'Right, I just need to reassure myself that everything is safe- oh this is useless.' Orchid thought to herself.

The Shadow's words were stuck in her head, was perhaps the answer right in front of her?

It was pretty weird that the villain was giving her literal hints on how to stop him, though it was pretty obvious by now that the Shadow underestimated her.

"I'll show him, using my totally amazing skills which I have barely practised." Orchid whispered sarcastically to herself.

"THIS ISN'T WORKING!!" Orchid jumped as Via stormed out of the hut in anger, her usually calm demeanour no-where to be seen.

"I'll be outside." Via said before closing the door, leaving Orchid alone in the room.

Orchid sighed.

It was safe to say that she was going to be stuck in The Deep a little longer.

Yet another interaction with the Shadow had left her dazed.

It was almost as if she sometimes wished that she could just have a normal life again back at the orphanage, just to hang out with Mel and avoid the other girls.

It would have been completely safe but it didn't feel right.

Now that Orchid thought about it, she felt a lot more like she belonged her and no-one really questioned her.

Apart from Lyra of course, but that brought back the question...

If Lyra wasn't helping the Shadow, then who was?

All of a sudden, it was like Orchid was jolted into a dream, or, a vision?

She was standing a a dark indigo blue room, with no walls and no way out.

Someone was standing in front of her, a girl, but who was it?

Orchid tried moving closer, pushing against the forces that were trying to pull her back.

All of a sudden the girl turned around but to Orchid's horror her face was blurred, almost blending into the background.

It was it this moment which Orchid felt intense fear, almost as if she was in a nightmare and couldn't get out, but she had to persevere.

"Who are you?!" She yelled at the girl, trying to get closer but a dark mist slowly started to come towards Orchid.

'I'm waiting on the other side.' She heard the Shadow's voice say as the girl walked into the mist.

The other side? Was it a metaphor for something or...

"Via!" Orchid yelled, pulling herself out of the vision.

"Orchid guess what! I'm not sure what happened but The Deep is going to let you out!" Via ran into the hut excitedly.

"No! I need to stay here!" Orchid said nervously as she began to feel a force grab her.

"What do you mean, it isn't safe here, the Shadow can come get you!" Via replied, confused to why Orchid wanted to stay all of a sudden.

"It's safer down here than it is up there! The Shadow, he's waiting on the other side!" Orchid yelled as she felt the same sinking feeling as when she was being pulled into The Deep.

"Wait! So The Deep was trying to protect you by keeping you here!" Via gasped in realisation.

"Reverse the spell! Hurry!" Orchid tried to pull herself out of the current that was slowly starting to take her back to the surface.

"I'm trying! It's not working!" Via frantically tried casting multiple spells, before turning around with a panicked expression on her face.

"Orchid watch out-" She heard Via yell, and then she was pulled into the pool of darkness.

She looked back to see Via behind the glassy window of water before she was pulled away into the light.

"Orchid! Are you alright!" Everbloom ran up to Orchid with a worried expression on her face, helping her to her feet.

"Yes I'm, I'm fine." Orchid replied.

"I told you I was waiting on the other side." Orchid heard a voice say before she felt a dark mist grab her and hurl her off the hill.

Orchid gasped in shock as she saw Iris smile manically from the edge.
