If Orchid had thought she had seen a magical lair before, she now just wanted to go back in time and slap herself in the face.
Okay, she had never seen a magical lair before, but a girl can daydream, right?
It was like as if she was walking into a literal cove of magic, the rusted oak walls which were holding shelves of numerous potions and poisons, multiple nooks and cranny's in the walls holding books of all sorts and talismans hanging from the ceiling and walls.
Multiple green sparks of light flew up from the floor, in random bubbles of uncertainty.
"Miss Elvina, so what are-" Orchid started to say before she was hit by a leafy green burst of light.
Out of instinct Orchid called upon her army of sparks, creating a glowing shield around her.
"So, you can control your magic without a wand, you are a fast learner I have to say. Sorry for the ambush, I just wanted to see your magic without you planning it. I feel that is how you find out how good a person really can be." Miss Elvina walked out from the shadows.
"I uh, ok?" Orchid was speechless as the sparks surrounding her seemed to decide that she didn't need protecting and flew around the room, perhaps exploring this new surrounding?
"I can only assume that the skill that you will most likely need is the ability to fight, after all you are the one being hunted down by the Shadow." Miss Elvina said.
"If that's one way to put it, sure?" Orchid replied.
"Good. We begin now." Miss Elvina said before her eyes turned a glowing green.
Green bursts of light began to shoot out of the wooden floor, turning into a hazy green mist.
Triggering the sparks of light, they flew back to Orchid protectively.
Starry bursts of light began to make their way towards Orchid, Orchid blocking them with the sparks of light just seconds before they hit her.
Orchid looked around to find Miss Elvina, and she turned around with a gasp.
Towering over her was a giant emerald dragon, and with a roar it flew towards her.
Running for her life, she tried to think of a way to get out of here while trying not to feel overwhelmed that a dragon could fit in this tiny room, it's like it had... extended?
Realising what she had to do, Orchid summoned all the sparks she could, a blinding, brilliant force of light, and threw it all at the dragon.
The dragon roared in rage as it began to fight against the light, which was exactly what Orchid wanted.
Summoning a few more sparks she sent them to every corner of the room, the dragon too distracted by the light attacking it to notice.
The sparks of light pushed against the barrier of the room, extending it open to it's potential limit.
Finally shaking off all the light, the dragon look up to see a giant room in front of it, stunned by the open space.
Using the dragon's confusion to her advantage, she pulled all the sparks of light towards her, and she lunged towards the dragon ,which was still distracted, sending a giant army of light towards it.
The dragon roared for one last time before evaporating into the green mist.
Gasping for breath, Orchid looked around.
The room was a tiny, magical cove once more.
"You are more capable than I thought." Orchid looked behind her to see Miss Elvina standing there.
"What, how, where did the dragon come from?" Orchid asked.
"Years of magic study won't fail anyone Orchid." Miss Elvina summoned up a tiny hologram of the emerald dragon in her palm.
It seemed to crystallise and woke up with a shake of it's head.
Miss Elvina put it in Orchid's hand, Orchid flinching as it looked at her before going back to sleep.
"I want you to practise fighting this dragon here everyday, I want you to send it back into this form next time on your first strike. Only then shall we resume your training." Miss Elvina climbed up the staircase.
Orchid looked down at the dragon which was now snoring gently in the palm of her hand.
She could only imagine how dangerous the next stage of her training could be.
