Orchid took out her phone from her purse and hurriedly called Melody's contact.
She had forgotten all about her since she arrived in Davianna and couldn't imagine how Melody might feel.
Her phone buzzed several times before the call accepted and Orchid could see Melody through the camera.
"ORCHID! OMG I have so much to tell you! But anyways, how are you! Have you met your parents, where even are you, I might be able to visit you someday!"
Orchid froze at the last two sentences, having a feeling she wasn't meant to know about Etarnaya and the magic.
"I'm great really, no more orphanage food!" Orchid winked, "And um, I haven't met my parents because... they are really busy right now, exploring... Antartica! Yeah, I'm in one of those camps right now, pretty cold." Orchid faked shivered.
"REALLY! OHMYGOSH THAT SOUNDS SO AMAZING! But anyways, guess what!!!" Melody squealed.
"What?" Orchid asked.
"You see, as soon as you left, some people arrived at the orphanage and they wanted to adopt someone! And guess who they decided to adopt!" Melody said excitedly.
"You got adopted too! That's amazing! What's your life like now? How are your new parents?!" Orchid asked her, happy for her friend.
"Well, they are actually this really rich couple and they are soooo nice, so right now I am on their private plane on the way to Japan!" Melody swivelled her camera around and Orchid could see quite a luxurious plane.
'If only I could show her the Mairy-Unique.' Orchid thought, sadly knowing she probably won't be able to be truthful to her friend again.
"That looks so amazing! Be sure to send me some pics once you arrive!" Orchid laughed.
"Of course! But anyways, I have to go, my new parents are calling me, we HAVE to talk more often, byeee!!!" Melody said.
"Bye Mel!" Orchid said and cut the call.
Orchid was relieved that finally Melody had gotten adopted, knowing that she would eventually go crazy if she spent anymore time in that orphanage.
At that point she heard a quiet knock on her door.
"Orchid? Are you in there?" She could hear Mr Passer say.
"Coming!" She jumped off her bed and entered the living room area to open the door.
"Ah Orchid! Sorry I couldn't meet you at all that much today, very busy, but just wanted to come by and give you this." Mr Passer reached into his bag and brought out a small parcel.
"Oh, thank you!" Orchid tentatively took the parcel in her hands.
"Yes, I just got you a new demaver and some other things which you might find of use to you." Mr Passer said as he walked away, "I'll just go and have some late dinner, night Orchid!"
"Goodnight!" Orchid replied and closed the door.
Orchid moved into the living area and sat down on the white carpet.
She carefully removed the tape and opened the parcel.
Inside was a new clip, which this time seemed to disappear once she put it in her hair, Orchid observed, looking at it in the mirror.
There was also a book called 'The History of Light-Walkers' which Orchid believed could possibly help her learn about her powers a bit more.
She also finds another book called 'Controlled Magic', and attached to it is a long gnarly stick, seeming to represent a gold and orange feather.
There also was a smaller package inside which had a note attached to it.
'Happy Birthday Orchid! Sorry we couldn't do much yesterday, hope you like it!' The note read.
Orchid slowly opened the package to see a charm bracelet, it already had one charm on it which seemed to be a miniature phoenix.
Orchid gasped as she examined the bracelet, it seemed to be made of a special type of silver, which sparkled as the light reflected on it.
Orchid put the charm bracelet carefully on her bedside table and put the books in a shelf in the living room along with the stick, her hardcover book of fairytales already there from when she put it there on the first day.
Orchid looked around room 13 and sighed, the Mairy-Unique had already seemed to feel like home.
