When we went to have lunch I wanted to ask what happened when Emily dropped by his office chamber.

I nibbled with my fingers on my shirt's sleeve as I desperately wanted to know. But I had no courage to ask. Because he might think I was jealous or he might get a hunch that I have something for him. Something that was called feelings...

We went to the nearest cafeteria as I ordered a burrito and he ordered a sandwich.

He sat and looked at me. His gaze stayed a bit longer and I was afraid that he would find out.

"So, what made you so enthusiastic that you finished all of your tasks?" Callahan asked while our order hadn't arrived yet. His eyes held me in his long gaze as he expected an answer. I could feel that he must have sensed something as he could hear my thoughts. And I was scared to let him know about that.

"Nothing just felt like I needed to finish this." I bit my bottom lips as I shook my head while trying so hard not to think anything since he would hear it. "I felt motivated."

He nodded but his eyes said he didn't believe me one bit. Well, I can't help it. I couldn't disclose him about my feelings. He would laugh or make fun of me or worse, he would leave me.

Before he could ask anything our orders arrived and I was thankful that he didn't ask anything anymore but I had a feeling that he wouldn't let it slide so easily. Callahan was not a person(or, a devil) to let anything slide under his nose.

Since he was silent for the whole time he ate lunch, I couldn't help but question him. "Did Emily do something?"

And it spiked his interest as his eyes glinted. Ah! I knew it! He was just waiting for me to ask for it.

I raised my brow.

"Well, is that bothering you all this time?" He smirked and my belly tingled. Blast it! I should have not asked him.

I opened my mouth to say something and closed again. What would I say? Did you guys bang each other?

"What! No!" I totally refused it and said, "I just asked because you have been quiet and Emily went to you with so much enthusiasm."

Well, it wasn't practically a lie but it wasn't the truth either.

He leaned on his chair as his grin broadened. "You know, Carson, you can't lie to me."

"I am not lying..." I said as I chomped on my burrito with a grumpy manner. Damn! I hated it when he could easily know if I was lying or not. On the other hand, I could barely read his face!

"When you lie, your nose twitches." He remarked and I stared at him with round eyes.

He leaned forward when our faces were an inch close and my heart started to do flip flops. I stopped chewing and looked at him holding my breath.

His tongue licked at the side of my lip as he leaned back and my face burnt. "The white sauce tastes nice." He said. "Maybe I should have ordered a burrito."

"Wh-why did you do that?" I yelled in a hushed voice as my eyes moved around rapidly finding any witnesses. And there were some office colleagues still present there who gaped at us.

My ears burnt as I sent daggers at Callahan which made his grin broader.

"There are colleagues here!" I hissed.

"Chill. We are on our lunch hour. We didn't do anything in our office hours." He shrugged. Well, he was right but still!

I was about to come up with a full speech but he cut me off as he said, "I sensed that time when Emily came by. You were feeling angry, sad and insecure."
