I came back to his car as he drove us to my apartment. I was worried for Miory. I knew she was a powerful devil but as Callahan said the enemy might be stronger than her or equal to her powers.
"Where is she staying?" I asked.
"To her contracted soul's house."
"That actor, David's?!" Damn! She was lucky...or he was lucky or whatever it was.
"Seems so."
"Will she be safe?" If the enemy was as powerful as she was, I doubt David could hardly make her safe. He was a human after all.
"Well, I have told her that if something seems suspicious, call me right away."
I nodded.
"And what did you tell me about something that happened in hell?" I recalled him saying something about Hell. I was a little curious since I hardly saw Callahan agitated. He had always maintained his cool and he rarely got furious. But whatever was going on must be deep since I could feel the tension sipping out of him.
"Oh! A small object was missing from our library's ancient equipment." He said and he seemed to be thinking about something as his face turned serious.
"Was it an important object?"
"Not particularly but stealing under my nose, it is a big offense to me." He said almost clenching his jaw as if his ego as the general was hurt.
"By the way," Callahan said, his eyes were still on the road, "I liked that shirt."
Colors appeared on my face as I fiddled my fingers on my shorts. "You're welcome." When did he see it?
He glanced at me and said, "Also, that outfit looks good on you. You should wear more clothes like these." He gave a smile before turning his eyes back to the road.
"Yeah. Miory chose it."
He nodded as we reached. He parked the car as we both came out of it. We reached our apartment and I felt he stiffened beside me. I was about to open the door but he held my hand and yanked me toward his chest. His cautious eyes looked at the door and they turned hollow. Worry came crashing on me as I looked at the door but I could hardly see anything other than the hard wood.
I assumed he was trying to look through the door as his gaze stayed on it for a minute and his jaw muscles clenched.
He opened the door immediately after that and kept me behind him. As the door opened we saw Gretarioth was strolling around the dining space.
As soon as their eyes met, Gretarioth smiled. "Hello, brother. I was beginning to think you weren't coming back from hell."
"And you get a chance to steal her from me?" Callahan's grip on my hand tightened as his voice grew harsh. It almost sounded as if he hissed.
"Well that could be amusing to play around with your little human." He smiled devilishly as Gretarioth's eyes turned exactly like Callahan. And as if they were ready to pounce at each other.
"Why are you always here?" Callahan asked as his grip almost hurt me that I had to stifle a moan that was about to come out from my mouth.
"Just sensed something unusual from here." Gretarioth shrugged as Callahan's brows knitted on his forehead.
"I can sense it too." He said.
Gretarioth began, "Someone was surely here because these traits are..."
"Exactly like the traits from Miory's house..." Callahan finished as both of their eyes darkened.
"So, in short, it wasn't one of from Miory's enemies?" I asked as I peeked from behind Callahan.
