I looked at him for a moment. "What do you mean by who knows?"
Currently we were sitting on the bed and I was trying to figure out what he meant by that. For some reason, I could tell he was avoiding the conversation.
Callahan sighed. "Well, we had an argument then a little fight and after that they surrendered."
I nodded. "So...they won't come right?"
"That's what they said, at least." He gave a curt nod but somehow it all seemed a bit fishy. And his posture was too stiff. He was hiding something.
"Then why are you here? Go back." I said and he opened his mouth to say something but closed after realizing that he had no excuses to stay here. And I knew that it hadn't ended yet because he didn't want to go away.
I raised my brow and he sighed frustratedly. "Fine! It hasn't ended..." He mumbled and looked at me with his anger stricken eyes. "How the hell are you getting smart? You literally cornered me there."
I slapped on his forearm. "Hey! What do you mean by that? I was always smart!"
"Sure." He said with a lazy gaze. "Let's go back to sleep. It is past midnight."
And he avoided the conversation again. But I wasn't going to let it slide easily. "So, why are you so stiff and hesitant to go back if they said they won't come after the devils?" I pressed not letting him ignore the conversation at all.
He looked into my eyes and it seemed he was on the edge as he realized I wasn't letting him go. I could feel his annoyance sipping out of his skin and the slight twitch on his jaw. I crossed my hands over my chest clearly, I wasn't going to back down until he said something.
He said through his gritted teeth, "They won't come."
I raised a brow to keep him carrying on because that wasn't all.
He finally sighed. "But something doesn't feel right here." His face turned grim and it made me a little scared. From what I had heard of Callahan, he is the strongest and if something was making him this cautious, then we could expect a worse situation.
"The tribe has no power to follow the devils to earth. True that they have good soldiers to fight but they don't have enough power to wander around the human world. And besides, they attack together, not alone."
"So, what are your thoughts on this?" I asked as my body felt restless and I wanted to hear the conclusion of this situation although I had guessed it already but hearing it from him made things settle.
His green eyes fell on me and I saw worry and a bile appeared in my throat. He said, "There must be someone who helped them and it is the same one who stole the ancient thing."
Alright! Now I was officially scared. The bile in my throat deepened and suddenly I felt my bottom part acting up. Err... I felt the need to go to pee.
I stood up and asked, "You cleaned the bathroom right?"
"Yes. I did."
I nodded and I was about to go when I recalled this wasn't over at all. Some enemy, a deadly and dangerous one, might be lurking around. My feet froze as I stood still before the door and my hand stayed on the knob. I hadn't twisted the knob yet.
"Err... Callahan?" I turned around as my eyes fell on his lying body. His eyes were closed but as I called him, he opened them and looked at me.
"What?"
"Mmm... Do you-can you wait outside of the bathroom?" I asked, a bit embarrassed.
He furrowed his brows. Then it clicked him that I was scared as hell to go to the bathroom alone and his chest bobbed as he laughed while still lying on the bed.
