Callahan's POV
Miorith, K'han and my back touched as we took our positions.
The devils had surrounded us and I wanted to go to Carson but couldn't leave my subjects behind. Although they were powerful, there were just too many of them. Never had I even thought that my enemies would join forces to get back at me.
The devils launched at us as I placed a large barrier around us so the humans could not hear or see us. We couldn't afford to make them go into panic now, when for years, their beliefs had been altered. And it would be better if that stayed like that.
As my claws smashed and tore their ribs one by one, I saw Miorith and K'han were using their spell casting weapons. Oh!
Where was my trident?
It had been years I fought and to be honest, I had forgotten where I put it last time. I pursed my lips to think but damn those devils! Kept coming.
Miorith was using Sais in pairs, with one in each hand. With her fast stabs and strikes like batons, the devils were falling down like fruits from trees. She was so excellent in it that her rapid grip was changing for multiple strikes and blocks.
While K'han had a massive mace with eight triangular-shaped flanges surmounted by a small knob and with his massive body, his blows were so destructive that whoever was coming in his path went flying in pieces.
I was a bit amused by their performance because I was the only one who was using his claws. What a bad performance of being a ruler...
Who needed a weapon when I had spells!
I casted a destructive spell of fire and spread out my hands at them. Within a moment, the path was cleared only ashes fell like autumn leaves.
Miorith and K'han looked at me with wide eyes while I gave them my smug look. I turned back my head toward Igrun who was horrified and hid behind a few of his minions.
I scoffed. "What a leader you have got, hiding behind his minions. Very amusing indeed."
Ignur sneered at me as he came out with his pitchfork. The glint in it told it was one of the antiques with a strong spell bind. He circled it around him then did some spinning around his body, hands showing off his circus acts then pointed it toward me.
I smirked. "So the leader finally comes out of his hiding place...interesting." I nodded, "Amuse me more..."
At that, he got more angry as he came toward me running. He swung his pitchfork and I stepped back missing it by an inch however, it cut my cheek and it sting.
"Ow! Ow! Ow!" I yelped. It burnt! Yet it didn't touch me.
"Hahaha!" Miorith laughed as she said, "It is a spellbinding pitchfork, what did you expect! It might not cut you directly but it will give a burnt until its owner dies."
"You could have said that before!" I hissed as it still burnt and I wasn't healing.
"Eh? Then that smug look of yours wouldn't perish, would it?" She smirked.
"Your payment is cut by half this month!" I said through gritted teeth.
"Wha- That has nothing to do with it!" She shouted as her sais stabbed two of the devils and she whirled around blocking a lowly dagger with them. She shouted over her shoulder, "Don't cut my payment! Or, I would have to wait another month to build my house."
"You should have thought about it before making fun of me." I grinned then added, "Well, since I need to keep Hell's budget a bit low this month, it would help as well."
