I turned around as both of them looked serious, their black eyes not moving from me. I clenched my palms against the sink to stop my shaking hands.
Callahan looked at me for a moment as he said, "Injie ghohaowra forluka shropha...grevira shokoloko aspiranha."
I blinked.
Droy said, "Kriyaa foy moira uho jeriya shokoloko hiira. Fearua ari shak euros aurj hiera."
I blinked more.
What the fuck they were saying?
They spoke more in whatever snake language they were using and it sounded more like they hissed at each other. Sometimes Droy would shrug his shoulders and sometimes Callahan would shake his head.
After a few minutes when I felt like I was the subject of their conversation yet I couldn't understand a thing, I asked, "Can you guys please speak in english? I can't understand anything."
Both of them looked at me with quizzical brows as Callahan said, "But you could understand us just a minute ago." He came near and added, "You can even see us chatting while Droy has frozen the time for everyone else."
I snapped my head at Droy, "You—you can freeze time?"
Droy shrugged as a devilish grin appeared on his face, "Yes. But I am amazed that it has no effect on you."
He looked at Callahan as he mumbled, "I am curious though..."
"Set aside your curiosity, Droyth, I am more confused at how she could understand our language when it is supposed to be only us?" Callahan's eyes were on me and even though his closeness made the butterflies in my stomach flutter but it gave me the chills.
"What language?" I asked, "But I didn't understand it this time."
"That is what I am trying to get." Callahan said, "This is the ancient demon language which --apart from Satan-- only the generals of Hell knows and the ancient demons who are alive till now. But the new generation has no knowledge of it yet," his dark eyes darkened more as he bent and his face came near me, "You understood me pretty clearly."
"I— I thought you were talking in english." I said although now my heart stammered in my chest. Was it that bad to know the language?
"Yes, it is bad." Callahan said as he straightened his back and looked down at me, "As it works like a code language among us, it is threatening for us if others know it too."
"Don't read my thoughts!" I shouted as he smirked. His devilish smirk came back which sparked something in my belly. The canines peeked from his lips and it didn't leave any complaints of how evil-ish-ly handsome he looked.
"Can't help, sweetheart."
"Wait, why can't I hear her thoughts?" Droy or Droyth whatever his name was, asked.
"Because I had blocked everyone else. Only I can hear her." Callahan answered.
Well, I was glad that he blocked it, however, it still didn't change the fact that he could still hear my thoughts. I would have to always stay protective around him.
Droy grinned as he said, "Possessive over your contractor so other devils won't snatch her away?"
It seemed Callahan didn't like how he pointed that as he looked at Droy with a grim face. And his serious face was more terrifying than anything else as if he was going to murder Droy.
Droy seemed to get the hint as he said lazily, "C'mon, man, I was just joking. Besides," he looked at me, "My charm didn't work on her."
"Yes, she is special." Callahan said and a smirk formed on his face as if some poisonous plan was brewing in his mind.
