I came back to my room and saw Callahan wasn't there. Although I knew that Andrew wasn't happy with the decision, I was glad that Callahan at least didn't send Avaloth to a place she didn't want to go.

I recalled her face when she said that they hurt her. It pained me to think what situations she had gone through. She might be a devil but she didn't deserve that. But it still was a mystery how she came to Andrew.

It seems Callahan didn't want to share when it came to that unknown enemy.

"Were you thinking about me?" Callahan asked from behind my ear as it sent a jolt of lightning to my body. I wasn't startled anymore because I was getting accustomed to his sudden appearance.

"No. Why would I be thinking of you?" I asked as I looked at him over my shoulders as he gave me a smile.

"Why not? Since we left our very personal moment long ago." He said bluntly as he shrugged and my face burnt.

"I- don't you dare!" I shouted as he chuckled and sat on the bed.

I went near and took the place beside him and asked, "Thank you for doing that."

"Doing what exactly?"

"Making things right for Avaloth."

"Well, the place she came from isn't a good one. I just barely did anything but sooner or later, they will come for her."

I gasped. "Why?"

"Because she is still their property unless she is an experienced succubus or powerful enough to fight back."

"That is why you told Miory to take her?"

He nodded. "Miory held a higher position and they wouldn't want to go against her if they didn't want a war. And I am sure the devil who is ruling the south, won't want to indulge himself with such trivial matters."

I nodded.

Callahan's posture told me that he wasn't at ease even though he was trying to act like one. From what I could gather, he wouldn't put anyone in danger unless the situation demanded it and he liked to bury all of the worry in himself. I knew I wouldn't be much help but if he had opened up to me, maybe I would have suggested something.

As he pursed his lips and tapped his temple, I knew he was still thinking about what Avaloth said. I placed my arms around his hand and asked, "Are you again thinking of something?"

"No."

"You are lying." I narrowed my eyes as he gave me a grin but it fell as soon as it came and he sighed.

"It's just... I haven't felt scared for years." He scoffed. "Never knew that an enemy could appear enough to scare me."

"Why are you scared?"

He stiffened as his eyes went distant. "I don't know."

He let out a deep breath. "I don't honestly know why I am feeling like this. It feels like my instinct is screaming and I can't decipher it."

I tightened my grip as it helped him release his stiffness a little.

He looked down at me and there was something deep inside his eyes. It seemed like he was worried, tense, frustrated and scared. I had never seen him like this. He would always stay calm and maintain his cool.

As we looked into each other, his free hand reached my jaw and he stroked on it making me feel weak in the knees.

I looked into his eyes and saw he yearned for something then his eyes fell on my lips and my breath hitched.
