IONA STARES forward, her eyes never leaving Finn's covered body.

"Blood must have blood," she murmurs quietly, "but the blood you spilled requires so much more..."

A Grounder man from beside her grunts, shaking his head. His eyes narrow at the corpse, almost as if he's thinking the exact same thing.

Athena neighs from below her, making the cold commander smile gently before she leans down and hugs the white horse. Her fingers tangle into her locks and gently massages through them, encouraging Athena on.

The first year after she'd been reunited with Lexa, the girl had given her a birthday present. She was around fifteen, still a child that appreciated and got excited by the idea of celebration.

When Lexa came around the corner of a building, a lead in her hand as she led a beautiful white foal forward and towards Iona, her heart had swelled.

She loved horses, as a child and even now.

Some things never change.

While the other commanders are at the front, leading the group, Iona prefers to stay in the back. She's surrounded by Sky People, one of which is crying and staring at Finn's dead body.

The others are quietly talking amongst themselves, including Clarke and the other man whose name she is yet to learn.

It's not like she really cares though.

"You did the right thing," He whispers to Clarke, trying to be reassuring. Iona assumes he's referring to Finn, and she glances over, interest piqued.

"Yeah, and now I'll have to live with it."

Iona contemplates whether or not to say something, biting the inside of her cheek. Then, she's slowing Athena down with a light tug on the reins, walking beside Clarke.

"You didn't have to," Iona says, her void devoid of any emotion. "He would've died by my hand. It would've been my burden to carry."

Clarke and the stranger glance up at her, slightly shocked by her presence.

Then, Clarke shakes her head, "You wouldn't have cared. And it would've been slow. he would've suffered."

"That's the point," Iona deadpans, raising a brow. She pushes a few strands of messy blonde hair from in front of her eyes, patting Athena's neck soothingly. "He killed my sister, Clarke. She was just a child."

Clarke goes quiet, the handsome man silenced as well. His brows furrow and he stares down at the ground.

Iona inhales heavily, "Blood must have blood, Clarke. But the blood wasn't required to be on your hands."

Clarke glances up at Iona, and for the first time since she met her a few days ago, the woman seemed to lack hostility.

Her sister.

"I'm sorry for your loss," the man beside her murmurs slowly, like he means it yet doesn't trust her.

Iona nods, "As am I."

IONA LIKED nature.

Of course, she'd much rather paint the green leaves with the blood of her foes, but she likes it nonetheless.

As the Grounders set up camp just within a cluster of trees, she wanders.

She wanders into the green thicket, leaves crunching beneath her boots. Her hand is resting comfortably on her weapon, ready to draw it and strike if anything jumps out at her.

Other than that, everything is peaceful. Iona is content, letting all of her underlying anger disappear for a moment.

Instead, she breathes.

In, out.

It's so simple, yet so soothing.

"Why are you here?" Iona asks suddenly, sighing as she turns.

The man from earlier stands there, his gaze warily travelling to the katana by her side, as he holds up his hands.

He points to a berry bush not far away from where she's standing, and Iona slides to the side so he can access the sweet fruit, but she keeps her distance.

"Who are you?" He asks, shaking his head.

Iona stills, narrowing her eyes, "I could ask you the same."

"Bellamy," he says in response, and finally, Iona can put a name to the face she's seen so much lately.

Iona sighs, "Iona."

Bellamy nods to himself, grabbing a handful of berries and putting them in a small basket to take back to the Sky People.

Bellamy's eyes wander, landing on Iona's katana, and they narrow, "Where'd you get it?"

Iona scoffs, shaking her head and walking back towards the tree line.

"As if I'd tell you, Sky Boy."

Bellamy watches her go, eyes narrowing skeptically. He sighs, shaking his head as he looks away.

Bellamy Blake couldn't quite understand Iona Valana.
