After a while, Sersi and Ikaris convinced Phastos to come with them, in order to tell him about the true purpose of their mission to save the world.

As hard as it also was for the others to accept the truth when Sersi told them, the inventor also needed some time to think about it.

He didn't want to go at first, but he didn't have much time actually to make his decision, as we were kinda waiting for him on the plane at the airport close to Chicago.

And still, the end of the world is coming faster than you might think, so the Eternals need him right now.

Phastos was difficult to convince, as the inventor also created a life for himself here amongst the humans just like Druig did, and me if I include myself.

Actually, most of them did after the Fall of Tenochtitlan, but some of the Eternals stuck together to keep each other safe, while others totally isolated themselves.

Apparently, Phastos created a life with his boyfriend and an adopted son, in a big house in the suburbs of Chicago. It's understandable he didn't want to leave them at first, as it was also difficult for me to abandon the village in the Amazon with the people I knew for so long.

That is just about loving each other, something you can't take away so easily.

They are still his family in a kind of way, as Phastos trusted them with the truth he lived amongst the humans for almost 7,000 years as an Eternal. And by meeting them, his faith in humanity is restored.

It made me think of the conversation Druig and Sersi had back in the Amazon, when Thena said her goodbyes to Gilgamesh during the funeral.

They told each other they needed Phastos to control the mind of a Celestial with his technology to help Druig, in order to stop the Emergence. As Phastos is still the inventor, he can probably help them with it.

However, Druig told Sersi it probably was going to be difficult to convince Phastos, because he gave up on humans a long time ago, and Druig did tell me about it earlier on. Ofcourse, not literally every single detail, but still, he can look inside of people's mind, by also looking into their past.

Phastos' faith in humankind changed in 1945. Now, alot of things happened back then, as history class is still my favorite subject to teach my former students. Was, is probably the right word to say now unfortunately.

In 1945, World War II probably ended, as it was going on already for something like five years in Europe, and spread across almost the entire world, involving every country into the war. Maybe the war lasted even longer, because history is not always that accurate.

Phastos guided and progressed many technological innovations throughout the course of human history, but he fell into a state of dejection after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima in Japan on August 6th 1945, which resulted in a monumental loss of human life.

Now, I also know three days later another atomic bomb was dropped on yet another city in Japan, Nagasaki, August 9th 1945.

I don't know if it was also because of the help from Phastos, but I know there is nothing to blame him for, and the other Eternals know this by heart.

It was a human mistake that happened. Something that probably can't be forgiven and forgotten as Phastos did see it happen, but yet can't be reversed.

However, with the help of the Time Stone from the Infinity Stones, you probably can reverse it, but where are you even going to find this stone? It was already used by the Avengers during the Blip.
