**Lydia POV
Lark and Scott were now a couple.

Great.

To say I was a little jealous as I watched them in the morning at the house was an understatement.

A crush was accurate.

"Are you okay?" Kit asked me.

I nodded, "Fine. I'm fine."

We walked towards the building and I stopped, seeing Court and Benny at the stairs, talking to the rest of their friends.

Of course I was friends with them, being a cheerleader kinda meant that.

However, I knew.

I looked at Court, who smiled towards the both of us.

Not at me, but at Kit.

Looking back at my best friend, I knew she was lost in that smile as she smiled back at the blonde, all-American football player.

Rolling my eyes, I just walked off from her.

I didn't need all my friends to be in love.

Sitting in science, Benny came to my table.

"Why aren't you with Court?" I asked him, working on my review packet, but took an earbud out to have a conversation.

He sighed, "Because he's with Kit."

Benny pointed his finger towards his old table and there they were, clearly flirting with each other and holding hands.

Dear God.

"You'd think it was Valentine's Day or something." Benny chuckled as I didn't respond.

What was there to say?

Summer was coming up and I was getting ready for a break from school, however I didn't want to see all these couples.

I was heartbroken, and this was the dagger in my heart.

Benny noticed I didn't say anything, "Hey, aren't you happy for them?"

"Absolutely, of course I am." I answered, taking the earbud out and looking up at Benny, faking happiness.

He didn't believe me, "Lydia..."

"Look, I just...there was someone I liked and it's clear they don't like me back, so I'm a little sensitive, okay?" I replied.

"Oh. Who...oh. OH!" He cried out, a little too loud.

"SHHH!" I told him, covering his mouth with my hand, but luckily, no one gave a shit.

Benny then said, "If you...liked this person....why didn't you say anything?"

"Because...I didn't know how they would react." I answered.

I was not telling him who I liked, I wasn't ready for that can of worms to be opened quite yet for me.

So I sighed and looked at Benny, "It's okay, I'll live being single. It's petty and stupid."

"Can't change how you feel." Benny said.

He said that while looking at Court and something tells me...he knew exactly how I was feeling right now.

"Nope, no you cannot." I agreed.

Then I heard the certain bell that was used to signal a monster attack on campus.

Great, just what we needed.

"Well, guess school is over. I hope the colleges will understand that we've had monster attacks interrupt our days." Benny said, calmly packing up his stuff into his backpack.
