**Ezra POV

It has been months since Desdemona appeared to our tribe, since we had claimed our elemental abilities.

"Well?" I asked Pecos as he and Kehetu came back.

He shook his head, going towards Nadua, clearly the patrol did not go well from the look on his face.

I looked at Kehetu and that deep frown that was never there before was present almost everyday instead of the smile I loved.

I put a hand to his cheek, which he gladly leaned into, "I need this. I need you for comfort right now." He told me.

"Of course, whatever you need, leader." I assured him.

Kehetu grabbed my hand, "More than your leader, you know. My father does not care for who I love, no one does. They are more open to it than you know."

"Can we afford that luxury? So many have died because of her, to get to us..." I argued.

But I was cut off with him kissing me.

I wanted that moment to go on forever.

Sadly, it never did.

I woke up and we were in recovery once more.

"What did she do now?" I demanded, seeing the other rangers unconscious still.

Lacey answered me, "Kit's powers are more powerful now that Desdemona is in control of her. She got all of you, but you and Lark are the ones that got away pretty much unhurt."

I frowned, "Where is Lark?"

"With her father and my niece. She'll be happy to see you're okay. I'm assuming since the others are so connected with Kit, it will hit them harder." Lacey informed me.

Looking at the four of them, their stones were more connected than mine and Lark's.

They were the main elements, she and I weren't.

"How did you defeat her before?" Lacey asked me.

"I didn't. You heard her say it. I killed my friend for no reason."

Lark was exactly where her mother said she would be, out on one of the balconies with her father and cousin, clearly being healed by her.

"I swear, you all are terrible with injuries." Her cousin scolded.

Lark rolled her eyes, "Ruby, you're moving to Mermaid River, with Kamen Riders. You'll get hurt too."

"Nuh uh, not me. I'm no hero." Ruby argued.

Cam laughed, "You're a Reed. Trouble finds you."

"Dad!" Lark scolded.

"I've known your mother a long time, she's a magnet for trouble whether she wants to admit it or not. You are drawn to it too, so...." Cam continues.

Then Lark looked over at me, "Ezra."

Her cousin and father looked over at me as I stood there, not sure how to continue on.

"I did not mean to intrude..." I started.

"Don't. It wasn't private or anything. Our resident doctor is leaving us to help out a friend. I just had to give her a hard time." Lark teased.

Her cousin, Ruby, replied, "Of course you did. Well, I should go on and pack."

So she got up and left the three of us there, listening to the breeze as if the world isn't falling apart around us currently.

"It's a nice day." Cam said.
