**Lark POV
It was dark. No, it really wasn't, I guess.
I was still conscious, seeing what Desdemona was seeing and hearing what she was saying or what others were to her.
Scott was there.
She said she loved him.
Or was that me?
Did I break through and say that to him?
Honestly, I wasn't too sure anymore.
"Lark, you're in there. Please fight back. I can't...this can't..." Scott kept trying to get me out of Desdemona or at least show I was there.
Desdemona sneered, "I am not Lark and she can't respond. I am her past, present and her future!"
No, that can't be true.
I won't allow it!
My voice came out as my arms came up to our head, "No! You will not be my future! I REFUSE TO BE YOU!"
Stumbling back, I took Desdemona off guard.
Good.
"Lark! You can...."
Desdemona cut Scott off, grabbing him by the throat.
I felt our eyes narrow, "I don't care about loving you that much. I will make her watch you die if you continue, so push your luck. I dare you."
It was a whisper of a threat.
But it was enough.
"You have no more cards to play." Scott threatened.
This made Desdemona pull him closer, "Don't I? Sarpa!"
The yellowish-silver monster came out, clearly terrified of what would happen to her.
The memories that Desdemona had of her flooded my brain.
She was created by a literal fish.
Plucked from a river and then turned into this.
Not a fighter, clearly, but one that had hallucinogenic properties.
The one that trapped Nora and the other parents in the coma-like state they were in now.
"Yes?" She asked me.
No, Desdemona.
"Go visit our ranger friends. Perhaps you can...persuade them to think my way. What do you think?" Desdemona sneered at the poor creature.
Sarpa seemed to shrink at that.
She wasn't made to fight.
But now...
But it wasn't like Sarpa had a choice.
Her yellow eyes held fear as she nodded, "Of course, Mistress. I'll do it now."
Sarpa then left, which was probably the smartest choice she made.
Desdemona then looked back at Scott, "Any other questions on what I can do now?"
"Did you have the nerve to kill me?" Scott asked her.
And I felt it.
The question caught her off guard.
She hadn't expected that.
"Did you?" I asked her.
Again, she didn't answer.
So....i didn't know the answer.
She wouldn't let me or Scott know the answer.
Either she didn't want to answer or she didn't do it at all, but I wasn't sure either way.
