**Kit POV

My body felt empty.

Without her here, I just...

I knew it was wrong of me, but I honestly felt wrong without Desdemona in my body.

Luckily taking a break from school was okay, as apparently the school was set aflame by Desdemona, using my own power to do so.

Most of the school was under repair, so they decided to just send us into summer vacation those few weeks early.

Currently, Lydia and I were sitting by the pool, trying to get some sun.

I was beyond pale being a ginger and Lydia was as well as her being blonde and pale.

We had to be careful.

"This is nice, no more school and we get to have a day or two off from her royal pain in the ass." Lydia said, though I made a face at that.

But I nodded, "Yeah, it's quite nice, isn't it?"

Lydia looked at me through her yellow sunglasses and frowned, "What's wrong? You've been acting funny."

"Oh my god, you truly are a detective, Lydia. Nothing gets past you." I sneered at her.

Her face changed, showing hurt.

Then I realized what I had done to her, "I'm sorry, Lydia, I don't know what came over me."

I turned in shame, I didn't want to look at my best friend that was so hurt by something that I said to her and I didn't even mean.

Well, sort of, but not in that tone.

She shook her head, "It's nothing to worry about. I'm sure there will be some side effects, I'll try not to get too offended."

Lydia shouldn't have to do that.

I looked away from her, feeling guilty about what I did.

"Hey, I said you're okay. I'm okay, I can handle a little hurt feelings. Are you okay? It's only been a few days since...you know." She said, grabbing my hand.

"I'm fine, perfectly."

How good of a liar am that she might believe me?

However, she didn't give me a convinced look at all, so I was not a good liar.

**Lark POV

I was watching Lydia and Kit outside, as I didn't want to get in the way of this.

And I was a little scared of Kit at the moment.

Even though she was free from Desdemona, she was sometimes still acting like she was still within her.

"You okay?" Ophelia asked, sitting in the kitchen with Jo.

I nodded, "Just...worried. Scared, she's not the same, you know."

"You try having someone else in your body and make you do horrible things to your friends. It sucks." Jo said, making lunch for everyone.

I frowned at what she said.

How would she know what that's like?

"How does she know?"

Am I hearing things?

Ophelia looked at me, her hair up in a messy bun and said, "Mom was always off the days after Morrigan took control of her. Give Kit some time, this was much more invasive than Morrigan."

I nodded, it made sense.

"Where is mom? I haven't seen her or dad all day." I asked them.

"Uncle Tommy's come to town, he needed to talk to mom about something ." Ophelia answered.
