42. Reverse Fate

Saburo is heading out of the village as usual. He has a big bamboo basket on his back.

Zhong Li blocks his path.

"Stay away from my boyfriend."

Saburo snorts.

He mocks, "Your boyfriend always found me. Not the other way around."

Zhong Li is silent.

Saburo rubs his chin.

He mocks, "Feeling threatened? Maybe I look like an old flame. Unforgettable love."

Zhong Li clenches his fists.

Saburo mocks, "Maybe you're too lame in bed. He got bored with you. Maybe he will dump you soon."

"You!"

Zhong Li got upset and pulls his collar. It's the first time he got angered like this.

Saburo squints his eyes.

He taunts, "You don't deserve him. Deep in your heart, you know it well. He's too good for you. Just leave before you got dumped."

Zhong Li releases the collar.

He protests, "We get along well in bed. He never get enough of me. Always going for another round."

Saburo snorts. They continue their walk. Zhong Li kept telling him about their love experiences. As if trying to convince Saburo that they're perfect couple.

Suddenly Saburo pushes him from behind.

Zhong Li screams when he falls down into a deep ravine.

Saburo smirks. Hard to think he is innocent with such cold smile.

"You're right. You don't deserve him."

He keeps on walking as if nothing has happened. He searches for herbs and filling his basket to the brim. He only heads back after he finishes his duty.

Childe is walking around the village. Asking the locals about his boyfriend. Zhong Li often takes a stroll so he doesn't worry for him. Maybe he sees interesting stuffs and got hooked.

"What did you say? He left the village?"

"Yeah. I saw him chatting with Saburo..."

Childe rushes out of the village.

Saburo is walking back at the same moment. They meet in a plain few miles outside the village.

Childe draws his blade.

He asks, "Where is he?"

"Who?"

"Zhong Li. Someone saw you went out with him."

"He saw a weird bird and chased it. He hasn't come back yet? You better search for him. The forest isn't safe..."

Saburo looks worried and Childe lowers down his blade.

This guy acted so different. Is he not Scaramouche? He looks just like him. Never mind. I must find Zhong Li.

Childe puts his blade back into it's sheath. He leaves without saying anything else.

Saburo grits his teeth and follows him few meters behind.

It's clear Zhong Li meant a lot for this guy. It's getting dark. It's dangerous to enter the forest in night time.

Childe stops walking.

He asks, "What are you doing?"

"I wanna help."
