Chapter 40: Hard Choices

As everyone gathered at their podiums, the guards came forward but this time...Their faces were digitized a bit differently. Instead of their kawaii happy go lucky faced, they had intense looks of malice. Like something went wrong, or..They know something more to this case.

Even the smallest details like this were enough to unsettle Akira, but also point to a potential possibility to this case.

For now however, it was time to find out who was the killer of Barisuta.

"So, where should we begin?" Kentaro asked. "Maybe the cause of death?"

"I think that's blatantly obvious." Yumico said. "He bled out, and it was clearly the wound in his neck that was the final blow. He died from a simple stab to the neck."

"NO, THATS WRONG!" Akira shouted.

"How exactly am I wrong?" Yumico bluntly asked. "I'd like to hear your explanation."

"Well, you might not be aware of this Yumico, and I assume from the shock of the situation it's..a little rough to do so. However, it's important!" Akira said.

"Then spit it out, child." Raidon spat.

"How about shut your goddamn mouth before more shit spews out, ass face?!" Lily shouted at Raidon. "Besides whats Akira got to spit out? Mitsukos baby soup?"

"Jesus Christ, Lily!" Mitsuko shouted. "Get serious!"

"Sorry, just wanna help the group laugh." Lily shrugged as Yumico spoke bluntly.

"If you're going to sit there and make jokes all day, I suggest you shut your mouth as well."

"God, tough crowd." Lily snarked.

"Ok, so..." Kioka said quietly. "If..Barisuta had wounds prior to the neck wound...Wouldn't that mean his killer attacked him prior?"

"I agree with that!" Akira said. "It's incredibly likely that whomever Barisutas attacker was, tried to get into a bit of a brawl with him, that easily could've led to a mercy kill. Why did they target Yumico exactly right after?"

"Great question, why did they?" Maeko asked.

"Well actually, I could possibly explain." Riku said. "I found his tablet, and while scrolling through the messages. I found one really creepy one."

"Creepy?" Raidon asked.

"Actually, so fucking creepy I'm beginning to suspect you're the perpetrator that attacked him!" Riku said.

"Oh? Is that right?" Raidon smirked. "Do explain to the class how such an innocent cinnamon bun like me could do such a thing."

"Cinnamon bun? More like a Turd Sandwich if you ask me." Lily snarked. "Plus you aint even close to innocent! You fuckin provoked someone with PTSD into killing!"

"And you let yourself be hurt by someone who is meant to protect you, and murdered him. Dare I say more? I may be a sociopath, but you yourself are a murderer still lingering amongst us. Somehow all of you remain blind to that.."

"Don't you DARE bring that shit up." Lily began to growl in anger. "I only did what I did as a means to protect myself from a filthy monster! If anything, I COULD EASILY DO THE SAME TO YOU MOTHERFUCKER!"

"Can we please focus on the case?!" Mitsuko asked. "Forget what Raidons deciding to pull for now! We need to figure out who killed Barisuta, and we don't wanna end back up on Square one."

Lily winced as Maeko spoke up.

"So, should we maybe discuss the message that was sent?" Maeko asked. "If I remember right, Barisuta asked Yumico to meet her in the Music Room."
