Coffee. Always something of a beverage that brought peace to my soul, and ever since I was but a little child. The one thing I knew of most, due to the expertise of my parents. For 7 years, I had always observed. Curious of the countless possibilities and combinations. I of course, never got to taste at the age I was.
Which was perfectly fine, as the taste testing did come rather later when my body was able to handle it in small amounts at a time. If i even tried when as young as 6, in my mothers words..I got incredibly hyperactive. Things seemed lovely in my early years. My parents were madly in love, we ran a wonderful shop..
That was until Mother fell ill when I was 9 years old. Around that time, my father had decided to abandon my mother and ran. Calling her a "useless old rag" when not even moments ago, proclaiming his undying love for her. It was that day, he truly proved what a horrible man he was.
I was always taught by that same man to respect the sanctity and sacrifices, but also vice that came with women. To stand by them through sickness and in health, when you swear your heart to them. Yet, this is the same man who couldnt do that for his own wife..my own mother. The woman who brought me into this world, and gave me a chance to learn so much.
Ever since that day, we've since hired a Maid to help us. Her name was Alice, and to say the least. She was quite the mentor for me, teaching me how to run the Coffee Shop, due to my fathers absence..How to handle the Taxes, sales..amongst other things. Most importantly however, how to make quite the wonderful cup of Coffee.
However, I dont think were here to hear of my childhood. Rather, I believe some wish to know exactly my drive to become the Barista I am today. The desire came actually, after..an unfortunate family tragedy when I was 12.
The air that night was quite calm, the ambience of peace as fall was rolling in. The sounds of cars outside driving, as the sounds of rain gently dropped down. Few customers were in tonight, coming in for their after work coffee. A means to relax, forget their burdens this world brought upon them. I had quite the patrons for me tonight, a nice old couple coming in for a nice cup of coffee.
Them sharing their story of their son off to war, and my very image and presentation of myself reminding them of him when he was just a boy my age. I sympathized especially with their worries, and offered my condolences. Helping them out of the shop and to their car, I waved to them. Hoping to see their faces again in my shop soon..but unfortunately. I received something worse.
My horrible excuse of a father who walked out on us. It was a casual night of cleaning, and getting ready to close the shop with Alice. Discussing with Alice my hopes and dreams of attending the Academy of my dreams. The Extraordinary Minds Academy. It was truly a gift I wished with all my heart everyday I'd be granted..and even if I wasnt. My passion for brewing coffee not once would ever leave.
However, thats when I heard the door open and an all too familiar womans laugh. "Oh look, sweetie! Its that pathetic wrech of a son you mentioned! When you gonna make sure Nora gets kicked to the curb with this little shit?"
Those harsh words were enough to make me snap back, and..quite regrettably. "When will you learn not to violate the sanctity of something sacred like marriage? Regrettably..I hate to admit that it might just be your profession."
"Now dont you go talking badly to your new mother." My father could be heard in his booming voice, looking directly at Alice. Alice was clearly shaking hysterically, as she rushed upstairs to my mother. If she wasnt able to handle this, and..only understandably so given how abusive this man before me had come..I would handle it. The woman before me next to my bastard of a father..
She was dressed in rather revealing clothing of sorts, with Jewelry galore. I couldnt look at her for even a moment without my eyes hurting due to the shining reflection of all on her. I sighed, as I looked the sick man before me in the eyes. Bruno I shall refer to him as.
