Growing up, Riku was expected to be perfect. Given he was the older sibling, his parents expected him to be a perfect role model for Haru. However, Riku was far from perfect in his childhood. Suffered from intense anger issues due to the intense expectations his parents made onto him. His father especially, expecting Riku to get all A's in school, only for him to get F's from the stress of trying to just be a kid.
Of course, by Middle School, Riku was at least a C to B student, but even then. It didn't change his anger issues, especially when it came to Haru. Haru was always the only one to love Riku, no matter what face he wore. Always calling Riku, the best big brother of all.
One day however when Riku was 11, he nearly murdered a high schooler who had groped his sister inappropriately. The high schooler only got a slap on the wrist, while Riku was sentenced to Juvie for some time. His parents bailed him out, but leaving them in debt. Only furthering the abuse. Calling Riku a mistake child, how "their image will forever be tainted from their problematic waste of space."
This only made Riku angrier and led to him sneaking out. His Grades thankfully being passable enough, but his home life? Complete chaos. In most cases, Rikus parents began projecting their image into Haru of the "Perfect Daughter." Ultimately, Riku ended up taking Street Racing as a hobby, hearing that the payoff was rather very high. At least..maybe then, it could make his parents at least somewhat proud?
Wrong.
This led to a mistake that only haunted Riku for the rest of his life, but made his intense desire for being perfect at what he does, and never letting people see the real him ego take over even more. During a Race Event at a Stadium with his gang, they were told of a $20,000 cash prize if they won. However, Riku needed to sit out today. Given the stress of that day getting to him..
However on impulse, he snuck one of the cars and attempted to win the race when things looked desperate. Anything to at least payback his parents. Even if he hated them, they at least deserved to be paid back for bailing him out.
Until he swerved the car on accident due to something very wrong, that made the car swerve into the bleachers...and kill multiple children and adults.
Riku was able to get away from the scene itself, but every night he found himself haunted by the sounds in that stadium. The bloodshed, the women screaming about their babies being dead, the children begging for their parents to wake up..
This made Riku at least clean up his act, given he was disowned from his gang and forced to live at home where it was still complete hell.
However, this only made his anger of others except his sister even worse..and made his desire to race even higher. He still participated in nighttime street races, and with each match? Got better and better, and won first place everytime. Lying to his parents about the cash he won as money saved up from side jobs.
Until. He one day got an Acceptance Letter. To the Extraordinary Minds Academy; as did his sister. Haru being accepted as the Ultimate Ice Skater, and Riku accepted as the Ultimate Racer.
Both siblings accepted their invitations with joy, only to not realize..
They were walking right into the clutches of a life or death game, and it was possible only one of them would come out alive.
Would Riku finally be able to let go of the mistakes of his past, and drive the road to his future...or would he be driving down the Road to Hell for the unfortunate mistakes he's still chained down by?
