Chapter 29

Natalie

"No way. Mine is gonna turn out better."

"Hmm...I can already smell my victory and your loss from here." He jokes and I scoffed and continued kneading the dough.

Henry and I are making pizza.

We learned how to make one when we went on a vacation last year but we have both been busy that we haven't practiced what we were taught after that day. Since it's the weekend and I don't have to go in to work today, we have decided to spend every moment together.

"Let's have a wager."

"Sure. What are you thinking?"

"The loser cleans up."

"You know I hate cleaning." I clenched my teeth.

"I know." He smirks skilfully. "That's what will make winning sweeter."

I scoffed. "Well, tough because I fully intend on wi..." Hearing the sound of my phone ringing stooped me from completing the sentence.

I rinsed my hands and went on to pick up my phone which was on the couch.

The caller Id was unknown so when I picked up, I said, "Natalie Bryce." in my most professional tone.

"Ms. Natalie, this is Farida, Maria's assistant."

"Oh hi, Farida. How may I help you?"

"It's an emergency. You are needed here now."

"Oh. Ok. What's wrong?"

"I'm sorry, ma'am. All I know if that Mr. Sanderson is unreachable and there's a bad situation."

"Oh ok..I'll be right there," I replied and ended the call and faced Henry, who was already staring at me.

"Gotta go?" He says, but it was more of a question.

"I'm sorry. Work emergency." I said and moved closer to him

"It's fine." He smiles.

"I'll make it up to you." I placed a kiss on his lips and he nods smiling.

"I can't believe you never told me you were married. That too to Natalie. " Amanda says and I shrug. "Now that I know, what I noticed between you these past few months finally makes sense."

"And what was what?"

"Your chemistry, that's what." I sighed.

"We don't have any."

"Wrong. You have too much. Have you seen the way you look at her?

"How do I look ar her?"

"Err...like she's some piece of gold, that's how. I've never seen you as impressed with someone's work and ideas as you have been with hers. Now that I know your history, it makes sense now."

"I don't know what you are on talking about."

"I have a feeling you do." She smirks and continues, "I looked into her and realised that she belongs to THE Bryce family." When I didn't say anything, she asks, "When did you guys seperate?"

"11 years ago. Why?"

"But you only invested eight years ago. " She paused. Then raising her hands dramatically, she asked, "Wait, was that your way of reaching out to her?"

"No. No, that was a business decision."

"You're sure about that? Because like I said, I looked into her, and by her, I mean her whole family. You happen to 'swan' in with your investments when they were about to hit rock bottom."
