Chapter 50
Sam
"You remember Beatrice?" She asks.
"Yea. The girl you are competing against."
"Was. She got the lead."
"Aww. I'm sorry, baby."
'It's alright. I get to play supporting role which is not bad, as I get to wear more dresses this time." She shrugs and I smile.
"Proud of you for handling it so well."
"You can still buy me ice cream though. It always fixes everything."
"Nice try. Remember, no icecream till Saturday. You need to kill it on Friday."
"Right. Fine, bring it on Saturday."
"Deal."
"Who is she?" She says, and that's when I realised that I hadn't introduced them yet.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Natalie, meet Jamie....Jamie, meet Natalie."
"Hi, I am Natalie."
"You are so pretty." Jamie compliments and Natalie smiles heartily.
"Aww..thank you. So do you."
"Thanks." She smiled shyly and I raised my eyebrows.
"Where were you going? Isn't it past your bedtime?"
She turns to face me, and folds her arms akimbo. "It's only seven."
"Yea. you should be asleep." I reasoned.
"You sound so old." She squeezes her lips in despair. "Right, Natalie?"
"I agree." She says smiling at Jamie. They shook their head at me and I scoff.
"I'm going to get food from Cynthia for dinner. Dad said he will be late."
"Oh. OK. Hurry back though."
"Yes, sir." She salutes playfully and makes a funny face at me before leaving.
"Sorry about that." I sighed.
"It's all good. I loved her."
I smile, and pressed the elevator button and once we got in the elevator, I clicked on the number of the floor button.
"You know that you know her, right?" I said without staring at her.
"I do?"
"Remember that baby you used to carry for the guy on the last floor while he worked sometimes on the weekend."
"Yes". She smiled fondly at the thought of her. "The baby with the beautiful red hair."
He nods. "That was her - Jamie."
"What? Oh my.. I didn't recognize her."
"Yea. Well, she's all grown now..and troublesome."
"Wow..what happened to her red hair?"
"You know kids ...she dyed her hair black for some reason."
"Why? It was so beautiful. I remember them being so curly and soft."
"Yea...well." I shrug.
"Wow. Wait, you two seem really close. Does that means you, like, come here, alot?"
"Hmm..not really." She gave me an unconvinced look.
"Fine. I do come here a lot." I said.
"Why though?"
