Chapter 49

Natalie

"Oh my." I said, gently rubbing my belly. "I give up. I can't do this anymore." I said.

"Yea, I win." He grins like a child and I found myself smiling just watching him smile. He grabbed a tissue and cleaned the oil that was on his lips.

"That was good food."

"Yea." I agreed, and for a few seconds, we both kept quiet, staring fixatedly at each other, before we burst out laughing.

"I'm never doing that again."

"Me neither."

"Ahh.." I sighed and kept my hands on my stomach.
"My stomach is so full. I am not sure I can ever eat again."

"You'll be just fine." He replied, and I shook my head at him.

"Don't you feel the pain?"

"You know how much I love eating."

"Good to see that somethings have not changed." I replied, and he chuckled.

"You want to know something weird I just realized?" I said.

"Hmm"

"Our former house is in this neighbourhood, just around the corner from there." I gestured towards the corner of the street from where we were.

"Yea." He nods.

"I remember how we used to look at that park when it was just opened and say we were going to visit here someday. Remember that?" I said,  referring to the park that was right across from where we were.

"I do." I replied. "We never did."

"Yes, we didn't. Everything has been redeveloped. I bet even the house is probably not there anymore."

"Oh, it is. "

"Really?"

"Yea."

"How could you be so sure?"

"I bought it."

"Oh."

"Do you want to check it out?"

Do I really? "Um..sure."  I nod, and he smiles.

-------

As Sam and I came to the front of the familiar house, I stopped in my tracks.

Wow.

It really is the same.

As I stared, memories began to rush in again.

"I disagree. Absolutely not." Will stands, frowning deeply.

"Will..."

"You are not moving in with that boy."

I stood as well. "He's not a boy. He's a man."

He lets out a teasing laugh. "Man? That idiot is not the way forward for you. You are the Natalie Bryce, sister. You can't just move in with anybody."

"Well, he's just not anybody. He's my boyfriend."

"Who you barely know."

It was my turn to scoff. "I've known him for nearly three years. I think that's a pretty long to know someone."

"Even though... You'll move in with him to his place when he could one day decide that he was done with you and throw you out on the street?"

"I'm not moving in with him."

"What? You just said that you..."

"Will start living with him? Yeah but not at his place."

"Then, at your place? Girl, are you crazy or somet-"

"Will you calm down? We are not moving to his house or mine."

"Then where on earth are you moving to?"

"Our place."

"I'm sorry. What?"

'Our place. With our money. You know, we made a fortune from our game sale and haven't spent much of it."

"Wow. So you are gonna lease a whole house with that boy?"

"Man." I corrected.

"So..what happens when the money finishes?"

"We are working on other ways to make money. We are both very hardworking, you know?"

"And what happens if you don't attain success like with that game."

"We will figure it out."

"So you are gonna live on loans?"

"We are gonna grow together." I reasoned and his frown deepens even further, but does not reply.

At that point, I knew I had him.

------

Life with Sam was great and when he asked that we moved in together, I agreed.

I figured why not, we really loved each other and were happy so...it only made sense we did.

And with some of the money we made from the success of our app, we rented a two-bedroom apartment about half an hour ride away from school.

Few weeks after I spoke to my brother, it was finally the day Sam and me moved to our new home together. I was beyond excited. I love Sam so much and I was excited to explore what this move will mean to our relationship.

For the years that Sam and I have dated for, it has been a complete bliss.

Sam truly completes me in way that even I cannot quite fathom sometimes. It's amazing how he speaks my language of hardwork and goofiness.

And thus, I was sure that this new decision and new life that we were beginning together today was going to be one that I am going to remember for the first rest of my life.

"Are you okay, baby?" Sam asks and I smile, nodding.

He smiles. "Let's get our stuff."

Our!

Oh..how much I love that word.

"Ok." I smile and we headed back to the truck, and started to offload our luggages.

Present day

"Are you okay, Natalie?" Sam asks, bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Hmm." I smiled.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. I was just remembering the first day we moved here. It was..."

"Sam..." I heard a voice call and I stopped amidst my sentence. Sam and I stopped amidst the sentence and looked in the direction of the voice.

It was a young girl, running rather excitedly towards us, precisely towards Sam.

The moment she reached where he was, he scoots and pulls her in his arms.

"Hey." He says, his eyes brightened, and her expression mirrored the same.

"I've missed you." She says.

"Ah....I missed you more." Sam cooes, in a child like tone and I smile.

When they pulled away, Sam asks, "How was the tryouts?" and her smile disappears.
