"I'll be back in school tomorrow," Chenle argued resolutely. Mrs. Lee was having none of it. She thought he should take the whole week of heat off from his studies. "The worst is over. Suppressants will do the rest of the job for me. Besides, I feel cooped up."The lady could have turned into Medusa at that moment with snakes in her hair and it wouldn't have been out of place. "You had to stay inside whether you liked it or not! We weren't going to let you stay by yourself in that teeny-tiny flat. God knows what kind of alpha could've broken in if they smelt you!"
He could argue that he spent many-a-heat in 'that teeny-tiny flat' with Donghyuck on his first day of the cycle, but there was no point. He scooped up a mouthful of peas. He hadn't eaten in over a day. "Anyway, I'm right as rain. I'd usually go into school on the second and third day, so even missing school today was unusual for me." What was more, Donghyuck took the day off to look after him and Jisung had come to visit during lunch break. He felt bad that he didn't even remember the alpha leaving to return late to his afternoon classes.
"He's adamant about going home tonight, too," Mr. Lee mentioned from the room next door; his study. "Big D said he'd walk him home."
Mrs. Lee made a disgusted sound from her end of the table as she sat watching Chenle eat his dinner. "I've told him countless times to pick a different nickname for Donghyuck. I swear to god," she muttered under her breath, holding her temples in her hands. "He started calling him that maybe a month ago."
Chenle covered his mouth to laugh and had to put his knife and fork down. He swallowed the mouthful hastily and squinted at the lady through gathering tears in his eyes.
"Chenle, this is serious. He was calling him 'Little D' around Christmas time and we both got fed up and told him to just stop. Now it's Big D, I can't even-" she shook her head. "Neither of us can break it to him that it means something a lot different than what he thinks."
The omega laughed through his nose and resumed the meal.
Mr. Lee called from the study once again, "Chenle, you're welcome to stay longer."
But he'd already made up his mind. He spent one night here and didn't want to impose any further. He shook his head to Donghyuck's mother and she answered for him. "No, Honey. He's headstrong. But Lele," she turned to him and reached across to touch his hand, "if you need it, there's always room here. Or Big D - er - Donghyuck, could stay with you for a few days."
"I'm fine, really. And thanks so much for taking care of me today and last night. I heard it was quite hectic and that you had to leave work early to pick me up from the infirmary."
She shook her head once again. "Anything for my second son."
