The marauders headed to the hall for breakfast. They saw Flora already sitting at the table with her friends, eating and laughing with her friends. That was the thing about Flora. She always found ways to be happy even when a normal person would be sad for days. James approached Flora before she stood up, looked at him and said with all seriousness “Don't ever come to me ever again. I hate you, all of you so much. We aren't friends anymore so leave me alone” she sat down. “Flora, we just wanted to apo…” but James was cut before he could finish his sentence by Alice and Marlene pushing him away. She ignored their existence for the entire time they were at the hall.
It was Sunday and James desperately wanted to talk with the mystery girl. He ran to his room. At the same time Flora was also thinking about the stranger to forget what had happened during breakfast.
“Hello, mystery girl”
“Hello, stranger”
“Stranger? Is that how you refer to me? I sound like a creepy stalker.”
“Well. aren't you?”
“Haha you’re funny”
“So you keep saying”
“I had a bad day. In fact I'm still having a bad day today”
“Oh! Are we the same person? I had a bad day too. One of the worst of my life.”
“Do you ever get so angry and upset that you start crying but then feel even more angry and upset after crying. Sorry if it sound weird”
“I don’t think it's weird. Also I should not be the one to talk here, but you really should not feel more upset after crying. I wish there was a way for me to help you. Have you ever tried eating your feelings? That helps. Telling you from experience.”
“Sure. The apple pie they serve at breakfast hepls.”
“Atta boy”
“I was writing the essay for potions homework but I’d rather write to you. Is that normal? I feel like I have grown weirdly attached to our conversations.”
“I am not the one to judge. They have been keeping me sane for weeks.”
“That’s good then. I’m not alone.
P.S. I am alomost positive i have figured out who you are.”
“Tell me then.”
“I am not telling till you guess too.”
“To be honest, I gave up trying to figure out who you are. Whatever it is we are doing here, I don’t think it will work if we figure out each other’s real identity. Does that make any sense?”
“The more I think about it. Yes, it does make sense. The mere reason we can talk to each other so freely is that we do not know each other. I have told you stuff I have never told anyone. There is something about you that makes me wanna open up and that’s slightly terrifying to me.”
“Hmm. I think anonymity is our best option right now.”
“Yeah. I am sorry for bringing it up. Does that mean I’m not annoying, idiot and arrogant anymore?”
“You are slightly less annoying, idiot and arrogant now”
“Slightly? That’s a lot coming from you, I guess. I’ll take that.”
James and Flora both felt comforted and happy after the conversation. Both of them not yet knowing that the same person who they had such a big fight with was the one making them feel this way.
Later, in the evening Flora recruited Lily to come and spend time with Severus and Edward. They found them in the library, as they often did, both of them entirely drowned in their books to notice the two girls coming.
"What are you both conspiring?" Flora asked.
"Flora" Edward said with a genuine smile for the first time in a while.
"Hey" she smiled at both of them.
"Are you okay?" Severus asked.
"We heard what happened." Edward added when Flora looked at them confused.
"Oh yeah. Fine. We already knew they were idiots. Who cares? I hate them even more now." Flora said as Lily secretly pointed at them to change the topic.
"Guess what happened yesterday?" Edward said excitedly.
"What?" Lily asked.
"You are looking at the newest Slytherin seeker." He beamed.
"That's brilliant."
"Yeah. My father was one and then my brother Evan too. We are definitely gonna win this year."
Flora took offense. "I might hate him but even I can't deny that Mathias is an excellent seeker. Plus, the Gryffindor team has me. We are gonna win this year."
"Bet on it." They both shook hands entirely forgetting that Severus and Lily were not even a tad bit interested in Quidditch. Flora looked at them and they both already had bored expressions on their faces. They all laughed. The rest of their time together was spent completing all their homework and occasionally imitating their professors to get a few laughs.
Flora felt good after spending some time with them. Of course she was a little vary since Sev and Ed, as she liked to call them, were friends with Avery, Mulciber and their gang of bullies who were always troubling Gryffindors and their juniors. Lily had told her about Sev being her childhood friend and the first person to tell her she was a witch. They had a special friendship like that. She liked spending time with the both of them even though they couldn't do it very often. That is why she cherished every opportunity they had to get together.
