The next Flora finally sat her friends down and told them that she was 'James's mystery girl'. She told them the entire story, from her wanting to create enchanted diaries for her friends (Lily loved that idea) to her talking with James and later finding out about him at the ball. They were surprised when they heard she was at the ball.
'It's so romantic!" Evanna swooned as she completed her story.
"It really is."
"Yeah. James had changed so much since everything happened."
"Do you like him?" Marlene asked all of a sudden.
Flora sighed. "I do" she said and they all jumped on their feet. "But before you lot get too excited, James has promised me that we are just gonna be friends for now and that's that."
"Yeah right! James could never do that. He'll be on his knees, asking your hand for marriage soon" Lily said and they all laughed.
In all honesty, James had been nothing but a nice friend to Flora since that day. They often walked to classes together and ate their dinner together. They talked about Quidditch and their friends and their upcoming sixth year final exams. Flora and James often studied together for it.
The both of them were so lost in each other that they didn't realise how much time they were spending together.
"I think Prongs has forgotten about us after he found his mystery girl." Sirius said to the other marauders one night. James had told his friends about Flora too.
James was offended when he found out that Mathias already knew but later he understood that Matt didn't want to break Flora's trust. Sirius, Remus and Peter were extremely happy that Flora was the mystery girl. They all liked her (especially after she slapped James) and thought her and James would be amazing together.
The days went by and they were done with the examinations. The next few free days were spent planning their last summer vacation before they graduate Hogwarts.
None of her friends wanted Flora to go to her home including the marauders. They were all sitting in the common room discussing their summer plans.
"There's no way you're going back to that madhouse." Sirius said to Flora. He had just got to know about her step mother and half sisters. Sirius specially bonded with Flora over their problematic families.
After a lot of back and forth, Flora decided to go to her home, just for one week. She wanted to say a proper goodbye to the house that once belonged to her father and mother. Then she would go to Alice's house.
"Yeah. You can come over to mine too." James hastily added as Flora agreed to going to Alice's house. Remus cleared his throat loudly. "Just as a friend of course."
"Thank you, James!" Flora smiled. James would start wars and burn cities for that smile.
The day soon came and Flora packed her bags. The group boarded the Hogwarts Express but this time it was all of them, together in one compartment. The marauders and the girls. Over the years, their rivalry had died down and now that most of them were seventeen and a little mature, they became good friends with each other.
