"I can't take my mind off you. I need to know who you are. Please!" James wrote one day in the diary. He could not focus on anything except her. His mystery girl. He needed to know who she was. It was all he thought about.
Flora did not reply. She had come up with various scenarios in her head about how her identity reveal could go. Maybe it was due to her slight lack of self esteem or her negative impression of James Potter that none of the scenario ever ended favorably. All of them ended in a big fight between them or her getting banished from her friend group. This was a big mistake on her side, as she would later realize.
James waited for days for the reply but nothing came. He didn't know if he was angry or just upset and disappointed. He needed to take his mind off of her or he would become as miserable as Moaning Myrtle. His friends had started to notice his low energy and were starting to get suspicious. He did not want them to know yet so he came up with the only solution he could think of. Bringing the old James back.
Soon It was the month of February and the announcement was made for the Valentines Hogsmeade trip. Love was in the air, to quote a very famous muggle saying.
This was the perfect time for James to bring his old self back. The next day after the announcement, he stood on the table during breakfast, conjured a bouquet of flowers and publicly asked Lily Evans to go with him on a date to Hogsmeade. Obviously Lily said no and left the hall.
Flora was flabbergasted. She didn't expect this. This was not the person she knew. Did he really just ask Lily out again a few days after he wrote that he could not 'get her off his mind'. She was offended and extremely angry. James Potter was not worth it. That was her conclusion.
Flora was busy and exhausted all the time trying to divide her time between studies and practicing for the upcoming Quidditch matches. Both were equally important to her. Flora had never told it to anyone but she wanted to play Quidditch professionally after Hogwarts. She loved the game ever since she saw it for the first time in her first year. As a muggle it was all new to her and she was very fascinated by it. She carefully watched and obsereved all the games and soon made it to the Gryffindor team. She was actually good at it and was often called one of the best chasers of her times. Flora was proud of that.
Frank Longbottom had made them crazy with all the practicing and Flora had done some extra practicing in her free time too. In the meanwhile she was doing everything to avoid James Potter. She only talked to him when she was forced to during the practices, otherwise he was practically ignored by her.
They sadly lost the match to Hufflepuff. The whole team felt dejected. Frank drove them insane with his excessive strategies and game plan for the Slytherin match. They were gonna win that match at all costs.
Gryffindor and Slytherin matches were known to be the most violent and vicious. Their captain, Lucinda Talkalot, Slytherin's captain and Flora's arch nemesis, was known to be extremely violent and often cheat during the matches. Not many people liked her including the Slytherin's since she was the most obnoxious person ever. Frank Longbottom's entire self respect depended on winning the match. He would not survive if they lost the game.
The day of the match came and everyone was sitting on the breakfast table, trying to encourage each other and utterly failing. Suffice to say, no one ate proper breakfast that day and they all went to the ground like it was life or death.
Almost five hours later and one of their beaters, Gideon Prewett was in the infirmary with a big bandage on his fractured arms. Frank Longbottom was still in the showers trying to drown himself.
They had lost the match and the Slytherin's had played extra violently. Gideon had a broken arm and multiple Gryffindor players had some sort of minor injuries. Edward managed to catch the snitch in the midst of all the intentional chaos being caused by the Slytherin team. No one thought that it was a fair match but they could not do anything about it.
Flora congratulated Edward the next day and he laughed and apologized on behalf of his teammates. He hated how they were playing the gaming especially when one of the beaters tried to hurt Flora. He was angered by that. More so by Lucinda Talkalot who had especially asked the beaters to target Flora the most. Her enmity towards her even continued on the Quidditch pitch. He hated Lucinda for trying to hurt her.
Mathias was very angry that the Slytherin's won. It only happened because they played unfairly.his hatred for Edward Rosier increased after that. The marauders made up an elaborate plan to prank Edward. The whole situation ended in a big fight between Edward and the marauders.
"You mud blood lover!" Edward roared and fired a spell at James that injured him gravely and he ended up in the Hospital Wing for a week. The marauders felt extremely guilty that James was injured and Flora was shocked at the words that came out of Edwards mouth. She hated when the marauders fought with Edward or Severus but she never thought Edward would be so vile. The curse was dangerous. It was dark arts. That's when she realized that Edward had changed now. He succumbed to the influence of his family and his friends, Mulciber and Avery.
