Mira's POV:
I looked into the mirror and sighed in satisfaction. I tried to make the best out of the clothes my aunt had provided me with.
I looked into my bag and made sure I had everything. Phone, wallet, keys, books...alright great.
I listed all my belongings in my head as a invisible checklist. I propped my backpack onto one shoulder and took one last look into the mirror.
"Come on Mira you can do this" I mumbled to myself. I knew just merely getting out of my room and leaving the house is going to be a chore.
Carefully opening my door, I quietly stepped out of my room. My room was in the corner of the house.
It was actually meant to be a store room and my aunt thought that was good enough for me since I was only worth that much.
The door creaked slightly and I paused for a second, shutting my eyes. I was hoping to leave the house without alerting my aunt.
Unfortunately, she had super hearing when it had anything to do with me but when his son would blast music she wouldn't give a damn.
I took one step at a time as I walked down the staircase. I looked around continuously for any signs of my aunt.
I sighed in relief when I didn't see anyone. I quickly picked out my sneakers from the shoe rack and started putting them on.
"What are you doing?" I jumped at the voice and dropped the shoe I was holding from my hand.
I turned to see my uncle standing in front of me with his morning coffee. I looked around and sighed in relief when I didn't see my aunt.
"Uh wearing my shoes to go to school" I told him. "First day remember?" He nodded. "No I know that but why are you wearing those?"
He pointing down towards my sneakers. I looked down and noticed how worn-out and dirty they were.
I've tried to clean them but they're really old and not of the best quality so not much can be done.
"Well these are my sneakers" I told him. "I told your aunt to get you new clothes and items for your school"
I noticed him about to raise his voice to call for my aunt. I knew that he will merely ask her but not scold her for anything she says.
I was in no mood of being belittled early in the morning on such a good day. So I stopped him before he could ruin my morning.
"Chachu please I told her I don't need new sneakers I can still use these" I hoped he would accept that and let it go.
I wasn't surprised when he actually did let it go. He may be sweet but he was clueless man stuck with a wicked woman.
"Alright if you say so" He smiled. "How are you getting to school? Let me drop you" He offered sweetly.
