Aryan's POV:
I sighed as I parked the car in our garage. I couldn't believe Mira had found out about the dare.
I didn't even know how Gia found out about it. Mira had the wrong idea and she had found out about the dare in the wrong context.
There was no way I could explain it to her at least not yet. She was still angry and will refuse to hear anything I say.
I just wished I had the chance to tell her myself so she would know what actually happened.
I reached over to grab my phone and wallet before I exit my car. I noticed Mira had left her phone on the passenger seat.
I knew Mira wouldn't want to see me now but she must be worried about her phone. Maybe this way I could talk to her?
I grabbed her phone along with my belongings and got out of the car. I walked over to her bungalow and held my hand out to ring the doorbell.
I stopped myself when I saw the door slightly opened. Mira must've forgotten to close it or maybe her cousins just came back.
I didn't know who was asleep in their home but I didn't want to take a risk. I looked at the time and realised it was quite late.
I decided not to ring the bell and disturb them. I gently pushed the door and peeked inside. I heard Mira's aunt's voice.
She was asking her why she was home so early. I walked in slowly, not wanting to scare them.
Mira's tired voice immediately shook with fear when her aunt asked about her phone. I watched her try to remember.
I was about to raise my voice and make them aware of my presence but then I saw her aunt hit her.
I stopped and froze in my spot when I heard the way she was speaking to Mira.
I was hidden behind the pillar so they couldn't see me but I could clearly see them.
I was shocked at the language her aunt was using against her. I couldn't believe an aunt would accuse her niece of such incidents.
I heard her say Mira wanted to meet me more so she purposely left her phone in my car. What?!
She also scolded Alia for losing the phone like she ruined her shoes. "The shoes weren't my fault" Alia told her aunt.
"Oh then was it my fault?" Her aunt said. "Is that what you're trying to say?!" Her eyes so wide I thought they'd pop out.
"Trying to say I don't buy you new shoes?" When did she say that? "Ungrateful brat!" She scolded her.
"The shoes were ruined because of Aryan–" "Again with Aryan!" Her aunt interrupted her.
I tried to think back as to how the shoes were my fault. Then I remembered the day I first met her.
At the school gate I accidentally got muddy water all over her shoes because she was standing to close to the puddle.
I felt guilty about it. I could've tried to avoid the puddle but instead I didn't care and carelessly rode past her.
I snapped back to reality when I heard another slap. This time Alia fell to the ground and I couldn't stay silent.
"Alia!" I came out from my hiding place and ran towards her. I saw her aunt's face change when she realised I was watching.
"Ary–Aryan wha–what were you doing here?" She stammered. Alia scrambled off the floor and refused to take my help.
She ran off to the stairs and I watched her in concern as she scurried to where I presume her room is.
I looked back at the aunt. "I'm sure you have an explanation for trespassing into my house" She said angrily.
"I do" I said. "Her phone" I tossed it onto the sofa. "She left it in my car and I'm damn sure it wasn't because she was trying to meet me"
I knew she had nothing to say to me. "Go home Aryan" She instructed. "Sure and I'm going to send your children back" I told her.
"Don't send them to our place ever again until you start treating them like Mira" I snapped at her.
"Treating her like what?" She said. "Like my child?" She asked. "Don't parents discipline their children?" She asked innocently.
"That was not discipline" I told her. "And it's clear which child of yours gets more 'discipline' than the others" I pointed out.
"Mind your own business Aryan" She warned me. "You're not a parent and you're not responsible for someone" She said.
"So don't go poking your nose into something you don't know" She said bluntly. I knew there was no winning with her.
I also wanted to make sure that whatever I say to her won't affect Mira after I leave. The best I could think of in that moment was agree.
"You're right I saw you two probably out of context" I told her. "Sorry" She nodded with a smile.
"Goodbye" I said to her as I walked towards the door. I took a quick glance towards the stairs and it took all my energy not to run up.
I didn't believe her aunt was not guilty for even a second. I knew what I saw and it helped me connect to what the doctor told me.
Earlier at the hospital, the doctor who examined Mira pulled me away and told me she saw bruises on her body.
Bruises that seemed to be older than today and she was concerned about any prior accidents.
I told her I would ask Mira but I knew at that moment she didn't even want to look at me let alone tell me her life problems.
I decided to push it off until later and hoped for the best. But now, I cannot push it off, I need to be there for her even if she doesn't want it.
