I stopped when I heard Aryan's voice even though I was still angry at him. I didn't turn around, instead, I waited for him to speak. "I get it" He said.
"I have it much easier" I patted my right foot onto the grass and shuffled around, feeling awkward. "I'm sorry for that" I quietly turned around and faced him.
"I hurt your feelings before and to apologise for that I'll help you with your acting stuff" He told me. "No need for the whole relationship drama" He chuckled awkwardly.
"Really?" He looked at me. "Yeah" He said softly as he nodded his head. "Thank you" I smiled. "Come let's go home" I followed him to his bike and he dropped me home.
{next saturday}
I paced Aryan's room continuously as I waited for him. He had been standing in front of the mirror for what I could only imagine as hours.
I had just come over to his bungalow in the morning and Suhana directed me straight to his bedroom.
"Aryan come on" I groaned. "Be patient will you" He said flatly. "You've literally been styling your hair for an hour" I told him.
"Half an hour" He corrected me. "Oh well in that case" I said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes when he ignored me and continued styling.
"Must your hair always look perfect?" I asked. He finally left the mirror and walked towards his bed where I was sitting.
"Yes" He grabbed his jacket that was laid on his bed and slid into it. "Yes it must" He was finally ready after what felt like ages.
Aryan had invited me over today because his parents were having a small gathering at their bungalow with some of their industry friends.
"I can introduce you to many people here and get you somewhat started" He told me. "It's still going to take time but this is a start" He led me out of his room.
Suhana had helped me get ready for the party because I had no idea what I was doing. I was glad she was nothing like my cousins.
"This is a small gathering?" I asked Aryan as we walked down the stairs. "Yeap get used to it" He told me. "By the way always take your time to come to the party" He said.
"But not too late" He added. "Why?" I asked. "Makes an impression and people look at you more" He simply answered.
I looked around and noticed quite a number of people turning their heads towards us as we walked into the crowd.
The attention made me quite nervous and I unconsciously clung onto Aryan. "You good?" He whispered but before I could answer we were interrupted by someone else.
"Ary!" Aryan was dragged away from me and I was left alone in the crowded living room of 'Mannat'. I walked around quietly not wanting to draw too much attention to myself.
"You know you probably have to talk to someone at some point right?" Aryan slipped into the seat next to me.
I silently sighed in relief because I was starting to get really nervous on my own. "I know I just–" I cut myself off out of embarrassment.
"Nervous?" He asked. I didn't say anything but he knew my answer. "Here we'll start slow meet my friends" He held out his hand for me and I gladly took it.
Aryan introduced me to his childhood friends some of which I recognised from either school or some news. He didn't leave me besides one time when he had to help his father.
The party wasn't dying down at any point but I had to leave. My aunt would kill me if I didn't come home on time. I tapped onto Aryan's shoulder and got his attention.
He turned away from the friend who he was talking to and leaned towards me. "Hm?" I almost choked when he got so close to me.
"Uh I have to go home" He immediately looked at his phone and saw the time. "Oh damn I completely forgot" He said as he got up.
"Hey guys I'll be right back" He quickly excused himself and led me out of his house. We crossed the street and he dropped me off at my main door.
"Your residence your highness" I giggled at him. "Thank you...for everything" He nodded with a smile.
"I should go" I unlocked the door with my keys and made sure to make minimum noise as I went inside. I tiptoed around the house as I tried to find my way in the dark.
"Where were you" I gasped at the voice and stopped dead on my tracks. I was almost in my bedroom but now my hand was sliding off my doorknob.
I gulped realising someone had caught me but also couldn't help but feel relieved that the sound was not from my aunt.
I turned to see my cousin Rehan leaning against the wall with a smirk on his face. He knew how much trouble he could get me into.
"Rehan–" "Wait wait let me just savour this moment" He said. "The moment where you are completely helpless" I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah like you don't see that happening to me very often" He shook his head with a laugh. "Fair enough" He pushed himself off the wall.
He started walking away and turned his head towards me as an indication to follow him. He led me to my room and shut the door behind.
"Let's cut to the chase" I threw my clutch onto the bed and started removing my heels one by one. "What do you want?" I asked.
If he wanted me to get in trouble he would've made it happen by now but I knew he wanted something else.
"It's simple" He made himself comfortable on my bed. I scrunched up my nose as soon as I realised I have to sleep on the same bed he is sitting on. Gross.
"I want you to set me up with someone" I furrowed my brows. "What?" He looked at me with an expression that clearly said 'You heard me' but I still couldn't comprehend.
"Who? Why? Actually don't tell me why" I was in no mood of finding out what goes on in his dirty mind. "Just tell me who" That was the safer question. "Suhana Khan" WHAT?!
