THE TELL
"Where do we go from here?"
---As it turns out, the Argents, meaning Allison's dad, her aunt Kate, and other members of the Argent family, apparently were the ones who caused the fire at the Hale house. Derek's uncle, Peter, survived, but he's severely burned and basically catatonic at the hospital. Oh, yeah, and the Alpha is the one who killed Derek's sister. So, on top of all the other crap I'm constantly thinking about, I have the constant overwhelming anxiety that this psychotic Alpha is going to come out of nowhere and just rip me to shreds.
I try to put that aside as I make my way down the darkened street, keeping my eyes open and aware of my surroundings. The walk from the bus stop to the video store isn't as far as I thought it would be. Since I can't drive and I didn't want to disappoint Liam, I decided to take the bus down to the store so I could rent another copy of Iron Man, since the copy we have seemed to have stopped working. It isn't always true that sisters have their brothers wrapped around their fingers – Liam has me around his so tightly, it's like if I disappoint him, I've disappointed half of the population.
Dressed in my lounge-around-the-house clothes – gray sweats and a random blue t-shirt – I had shoved on a pair of sneakers and my leather jacket, positive that I wouldn't see anyone that I knew on a random Sunday night in the video store no less. I grab the handle of the store and make my way inside, eyes moving around quickly so that I can locate the superhero movies without having to ask for help.
There's a lone ladder standing underneath a flickering lightbulb, looking as if someone has given up on trying to fix it as I move along the rows of shiny DVD cases. I find my way to the superhero selection, picking through the rows of Christopher Nolan's Batman series until I find a copy of Iron Man.
The bell on the door chimes as another patron enters. I exit the row I'm in to come nearly face-to-face with Jackson, who looks around as though he's completely lost, asking, "Can somebody help me find The Notebook?"
I knit my brow as I let out a snort, alerting him to my presence. He looks over at me, his own brow drawing and I fold my arms over my chest. "The Notebook?" I repeat, because as much as I support guys leaning into their sensitive sides, I don't exactly see him as the type to enjoy such a movie.
Jackson sighs, rolling his eyes. "Lydia wants to watch it," he explains, tilting his head in annoyance before adding, "again."
Nodding, I raise the DVD in my hand. "My little brother wanted to watch Iron Man, again," I respond, mimicking his tone of voice.
"He's an Iron Man fan?" Jackson inquires.
I shrug. "It appears that way," I say, brushing some imaginary dust off of my sleeve. "I've always been more of a Captain America girl myself, but the solo movie still has yet to come out."
