"Nowhere to run from all of this havoc, nowhere to hide from all of this madness."

"So, Derek just snuck up on you in a parking garage and made you do parkour and you just...went with it?" I ask Scott as I'm standing at my locker next to him. I grab the books I need for my first few classes and put them into my bag.

"I mean, he's sort of training me, I guess," Scott says.

"But he didn't even let you know he was gonna do it?" I ask.

"No."

"See, this is why I don't like the guy," I tell him with a huff. "He literally just shows up and wreaks havoc."

"In his defense, I don't think the Alpha's gonna call to confirm a time when he does want to meet," Scott replies.

I sigh, closing my locker. We start to walk down the hallway and I shake my head. "You might have a point," I admit. "Anyway, he wants you to stay away from Allison?"

It's Scott's turn to sigh. "Yeah," he answers. "I don't know how I'm gonna do it."

"Well, that hickey underneath your collar tells me you're doing a great job," I say sarcastically. As far as I can see, he doesn't have a hickey on his neck, I was just trying to be annoying.

"I don't have a hickey!" he exclaims quietly.

There's a look in his eyes, though, that tells me he hasn't exactly followed Derek's order. I feel my jaw drop. "Oh, my God!" I say, ceasing walking in favor of pointing at him. "You were with her last night, weren't you?"

"What? No!" Scott defends immediately. I tilt my head, folding my arms and sitting into my hip. Under my gaze, his exterior cracks a bit. "Maybe." I raise my eyebrow, tilting my head even more. "Okay, yes. Yes, I was with her."

"Look, I don't particularly like Derek," I start off, continuing my trek down the hallway. "Like, I can name so many other things I would rather do than hold a conversation with him; for instance, skydive without a parachute. But would you please just...listen to what he's telling you to do?" We make our way toward our classroom and I continue, "Because I've heard that when you don't, he usually shows up and tries to do something about it and I don't know how much more Derek I can handle. And I've literally only had one interaction with him."

"Well, he broke my phone," Scott says with a small smirk. "I had to tell her why I wasn't answering her calls or texts."

I frown, closing my eyes. "I don't wanna know about that," I groan, pinching the bridge of my nose. "Oh, God, why am I even walking with you?"

Scott, who is now holding his backpack and rummaging through it, lets out a groan. "I forgot my notebook," he says. He shoulders his backpack again and turns to walk down the hallway. "I'll be right back."
