"I hear your SOS, your SOS."
---

The boys' locker room is a crime scene.

After Scott went barreling into the school to save Brett, he found the bodies of the paramedics that brought Brett off of the field. One of the assassins, revealed to be Violet—yeah, the same Violet on the freaking kick line team who was just talking to me and asking me about Liam—and Garrett's girlfriend, tried to kill him. She and Garrett are a duo, calling themselves the Orphans.

A little too on the nose considering they actually are orphans.

Scott was able to fight her off and managed to call his dad. This is all still absolutely insane to me—there's a supernatural hit list going around, Berserkers, assassins, and we still don't know who this Benefactor person is administering the money.

Stiles had gone off to the animal clinic to get Deaton's help with Brett, who was experiencing some sort of reaction to something—like wolfsbane, but much worse. Kira had gone off after telling her about the newest third of the list and finding out that her mom was on it. I don't blame her—I'd probably react just the same if I found out that Mom was on it.

And I really don't know how I'll react when I see that Liam's on it, even though I know it's inevitable.

I'm waiting outside of the boys' locker room with Liam, arms folded over my chest. Scott is talking to his dad and I look over at Liam, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, are you okay?" I ask him.

He looks up at me and nods, eyes drifting back to the floor. "Thanks for being here," he says in reply. "I know you could have been helping Lydia."

"I wanted to help you, too," I assure him. "You're my brother and I love you. You're always gonna come first to me." I use my hand on his shoulder to tug him toward me, into a hug. "And it's okay to not be okay. You know that, right?"

Liam nods, rolling his bottom lip under his top one. "But you always seem okay," he says quietly. "I mean, when it comes to this stuff, you've seemed fearless, like you know exactly what to do all the time."

"Liam," I sigh, shaking my head. "When it comes to this stuff, I never really know what I'm doing. And you probably know better than anyone that a lot of the time, I'm not as okay as I portray myself to be." I clear my throat. "I know all too well what facing down a supernatural threat can mean. It can mean loss, but it can also mean victory." My throat feels tight as I think of Allison. "But it doesn't mean that we have to know exactly what we're doing. It might just look like it because it's been a year since I've been introduced to this world." I squeeze his shoulder. "You don't have to be okay. You don't have to be fearless, Liam."

Liam nods, and we stand there for a quiet moment, just hugging each other. Our quiet moment is interrupted when we see Parrish leading Violet out of the locker room in handcuffs. She stares us all down as she's walked out of the school.
