"Something gave you the nerve to touch my hand, it's nice to have a friend."

Most people would probably take it as a blessing that their gym teacher is absent, meaning that the period in which one would normally have gym class is now technically a free period. However, as someone who takes a dance class as her gym credit, the class isn't allowed to be in the dance studio by ourselves without a teacher present to monitor us. So, we have to be in the gym while the gym class that same period does their class.

I guess I wouldn't mind it because I could get a head start on some homework or reading, considering I have dance tonight and I want to get everything out of the way. But unfortunately, my head is spinning, and it has been since last Monday night, when Allison and Scott revealed something extremely terrifying and absolutely strange to both Stiles and me.

Stiles, Scott, Allison, and Lydia happen to be in the gym class I'm sitting in on. For the last week and half, the former three have not been able to wrap our heads around what was revealed to us. Instead of standing in the crowd with the rest of the students waiting to climb the rock wall, Stiles is standing in front of me as I sit on the bleachers.

"So, psychotic, murderous Alpha werewolves aren't where it ends, huh?" I mutter as I shake my head. "Now we not only have to deal with Allison's whack-job werewolf hunting family, but some sort of...some sort of were-lizard." I bite my lip thoughtfully, arms folded across my chest. "Were-reptile?" I snap my fingers, pointing at Stiles. "Were-snake."

"I think figuring out its name is the least of our problems right now," he tells me, though his lips are turned into an amused smile.

I tilt my head, knitting my brow, averting my attention to Allison and Scott scaling the rock wall. I frown, wondering why this is a unit. Can't this school just do normal things like basketball or dodgeball? "Whatever this Dr. Connors looking-creature is, it means Peter was the least of our issues, doesn't it?"

At my question, Stiles blows air through his teeth and shakes his head. "I don't know," he answers, and I know it's an honest one.

We have absolutely no idea what the hell this thing is. All we have to go off of is Scott's description of a lizard-like creature with a tail, talons, and glowing yellow eyes that appeared in the Lahey house the night of the full moon. I shudder just thinking about it, but I'm also extremely curious to know what exactly it is. Like if it's some sort of were-creature, or a creature with no human qualities at all.

A few feet away from us, Scott falls from the rock wall, nearly colliding with the mat underneath the contraption. The harness he's attached to saves him, but it jerks his body roughly as he suspends from the ground for a moment. He lowers to the ground a second later as Coach and the others in the class (but mostly Coach) laugh over the misfortune. Coach sits on the mat next to where Scott is laying, his laughter carrying over the rest. "McCall, I don't know why, but your pain gives me a special kind of joy. Right?" Coach laughs, shaking his head. He gets up quickly, looking out at the rest of the students. "All right, next two! Stilinski, get back over here. And Erica, let's go! The wall."
