"I don't think I can do this..." Red said quite agitated, turning away from Blue.
"Huh, what do you mean?" Blue asked, curious as to what Red was talking about because this just came out of nowhere.
"I don't think I can do this... Us... Anymore, I think we should end things" Red replied irritated.
Blue suddenly felt very aware of the situation and panic started to set in.
" W-what?" his voice started to tremble "Why?" emotions welling up in his chest. His thoughts immediately picked at all his flaws and insecurities.Red sighed, turning his head to look at Blue,
"Everything is too much, you-you're too much. You get too emotional about everything, you're weak. I can't love someone like you" Red said sternly.Blue didn't know what to say, his heart rate increased, tears had started rolling down his cheeks and he was almost lost for breath, his fears were becoming a reality.
"You're weak",
"Can't love someone like you",
"Weak",
"Can't love you".
His thoughts replayed Red's words over and over again."N-no! you don't mean it." Blue frantically replied in denial, he refused to accept it.
"I've only just got you back, I-I can't lose you again" he cried, stumbling over his words.Red looked down again, "I'm leaving" Red's response was emotionless.
"Y-you can't just leave... Red p-please... I-I love you!" Blue stuttered through his sobs.
Red said nothing. He took one last look at Blue, his eyes piercing right through him, he then turned and headed for the door.
Eyes stinging and vision blurred, Blue closed his eyes and reached out for Red but he was getting further and further out of his grasp until-
*SLAM*
Blue's eyes suddenly opened, his body sat up and he was grasping his chest. His body was sweating and it felt like his heart was going to burst out of him at any moment. He put his hands to his face, his cheeks were wet and his eyes puffy.
He was panicking and frantically looking around the dark room. As soon as he realised he was in the hotel room he threw his hand to the side, gripping at the bedsheets. There was movement under his hand followed by a gentle groan.
"Blue, is that you? What are you doing at this time?" Red asked in a gruff tone from just waking up.
When Blue didn't reply he put his hand up to his face and gently stroked his cheek with the back of his fingers, he could feel it was damp and Blue was trembling.
Red suddenly felt wide awake, something was wrong and Blue needed him.Red sat up and pulled Blue to him and slid his legs over his own thighs. He gently put his arms around Blue and held him close, almost like cradling him.
He didn't say a word, he just held Blue and waited for him to calm down, gently stroking his hair to help comfort him.Blue was a little hesitant but lay his head on Red's chest and wrapped his arms around him
It was silent for a while, the room was dark with only the dim moonlight creeping in through a gap between the curtains.
"Don't leave me... Please, I don't want to go back to how things were" Blue whispered against his chest as he tightened his grip on Red.
Red was taken aback by this a little. He gently sat Blue up so he could see him, his face lit by the faint moonlight.
His cheeks glistened and Red cupped his face and wiped away any remaining tears with his thumbs.
"Why would I ever leave you?" he asked while gently caressing Blue's cheek."You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, but you know I'm here for you, don't you?" Red gently asked. He knows Blue still has distressing nightmares sometimes and that things wouldn't just instantly become better, but he wanted to do his best to help Blue while he recovered.
Blue sniffled, "Of course I do, I-" he paused, taking a deep breath in to help keep himself calm. "I just... That.. it felt so... Real... That dream... It felt like you really left me Red." he paused again for a moment as he thought back to the little bits he could remember.
His eyes started to tear up again, Red pulled him close to himself in response.
"You told me you couldn't do this anymore, you said I was weak and that you can't love someone like me..."
Blue sighed heavily through his tears,
"It really did feel so real" Blue gently cried.Red gently rocked him as Blue's words stung,
"I'd never say anything like that to you and you are not weak". He kissed Blue's temple,
"You're one of the strongest people I know and not just as a trainer".Red was telling Blue the truth, he'd always looked up to Blue and always strived to rival his strength.
"You mean everything to me, and I'm not going to let go of you that easily" Red laughed softly but he was very serious. They sat together in silence for a while, Red comforting Blue with his embrace.
"Do you want anything? Something to drink maybe?" He asked, gently brushing his thumb across Blue's cheek trying to ease Blue's mind on the matter.
Blue sniffled and looked up at Red, "Just one thing" he replies, his voice still a little shaky.
"Of course, anyth-" Red was cut off,
Blue pulled Red closer to him and let his lips meet Red's, he felt instant relief as they both melted into the kiss.
"What time is it?" Blue asked as they broke apart.
Red pulled Blue back against his chest, "That's not important, just try and get some more sleep" he said softly as he lightly stroked Blue's hair.
Blue wouldn't object to that, his eyes were heavy and his cheeks stung.
Red sunk back into the pillows and lay Blue down with him. He held Blue as he nestled his head on Red's chest, holding him closely.
Red wasn't able to sleep straight away, he lay staring up at the dark ceiling while gently stroking Blue's hair. He was worried about him, he wanted to help him but wasn't sure what else he could do.
These thoughts clogged his mind for a while until he looked over at the window. Through a gap in the curtains, Red could see the sunrise creeping in.
Red laughed silently to himself and pulled the sheets up a little. "I love you," he said gently and closed his eyes. He placed his hand on top of Blue's and soon found himself drifting off.
