Red was suddenly woken by the blaring noise, he rubbed his eyes with his hand as he adjusted to what was happening. "Wh-whats going on?" his voice husky after waking up so suddenly, he stood up stumbling a little as he came to and could hear Pikachu and Eevee both in a panic.
When Red could comprehend what was going on he saw that Blue was awake and was pulling off the ECG stickers the doctors had put on him to monitor him which made the machine flatline "Where the hell am I?" Blue shouted.
He was about to grab the IV that was in his hand when Red realized and stopped him by grabbing his arms "BLUE, Blue... calm down..." Red said in a loud but soft tone.
Blue stopped and looked up at him "Red.. where am I? what happened?" his tone had softened now as his body relaxed but before Red could explain two nurses were in the room to attend the situation.
Red explained what had happened that morning to them, they then explained to Blue what was going on and why he was being monitored while they put him back on the ECG.
When they finished they asked Blue if he would like anything to eat, he accepted their offer then sunk back into the pillows on his bed, his body suddenly felt weak. He sighed "So, how did I end up in here?"
Red was now sat back down and leaning on Blues bed "I'm not sure if you're being serious or not... you hadn't been drinking enough and your body became dehydrated and you passed out not long after we left the Battle Dome.." Red sighed and he grabbed Blue's hand with both of his own and resting his forehead on top "I was worried, I didn't know what to do.. you were unresponsive and I was scared...."
Blue saw a small drop of water wind its way down their hands and his arm.
Blue brought his own head down and gently rested it on Red's shoulder while facing his neck, he let out a breath of warm air which made Red shiver as it hit him"I-I'm sorry... I should have told you I wasn't feeling very good and I should have looked after myself better".
He was cut off by Red "No, I should have been there for you, I warned you that the Battle Dome was going to be a lot and I should have stayed with you to make sure you were being looked after" Red sighed again "I shouldn't have entered the dumb competition.. If I didn't then none of this would have happened" Red pushed his bag that contained a trophy he won for placing first in the tournament away from him with his foot, then there was silence.
"I can't belive what I'm hearing right now" Blue laughed and brought his face in front of Red's "This is not your fault, don't blame yourself.. besides you did warn me I'd get a cold if I went into the ocean that night" he laughed again.
Red looked up not letting go of his hand,
"Plus you totally should have battled, you were amazing! You were right in your element..." Blue's voice calmed down. "I haven't seen you like that for a long time...It was great!".
Red couldn't help but blush, He knew Blue was right, he did feel right at home while battling. "Yes, but I still feel like I'm responsible for you ending up in here".
Blue edged slightly closer then hesitated, but then let out a breath of air and pressed his forehead against Red's and cupped his other hand around theirs. Red felt his face grow warmer and couldn't look Blue in the eyes, he'd been caught off guard.
Then they were interrupted by a nurse who brought Blue his breakfast, she saw the two and apologised for interrupting them. "No, no. It's fine" Blue said to her, he turned and thanked her still holding onto Red.
As the nurse left she look at them and smiled "Enjoy" she said as she left the room.
Blue smiled back at her the let go of Red's hands so he could eat.
Red was a little disappointed since he loved being close to Blue and that was the first time in a while Blue expressed himself so openly to him.
They watch the TV while Blue ate "Blegh, this oatmeal is bland... I hate hospital food" Blue complained, Red laughed "It's better than nothing, besides, you need to get some strength back if you want to be out of here sooner"
"That's true" Blue responded with a mouthful despite complaining, Red rolled his eyes.
A small while later the doctor who had spoken to Red the previous night had entered the room. He walked around the bed to the other side of Blue and checked the IV "Looks like this is done" he said as he unhooked the empty bag "I can take you off IV fluids now if you feel you can keep drinking yourself".
Blue felt parched despite being on IV's since yesterday, his mouth felt dry and scratchy "YES.. please" Blue smiled nervously "My throat is just so dry and sore I'd like to drink for myself".
"Alright, I'll have one of the nurses bring you something to drink and some more paracetamol to keep your fever down" The doctor responded as he detached the tube that was attached to the needle that went into Blue's hand "We'll keep the needle in for now just in case we need to put you on anymore IV's later" he continued as he taped down the little bit of extra tube where the IV tube was attached.
"Thank you, doctor" Blue said to him as he checked over his vitals,
"Everything seems to be okay but I'm going to keep you in another night just to be sure" That wasn't exactly what Blue wanted to hear but he understood why.
As the doctor left the room Blue sighed "I hate staying in hospitals".
Red put his hand back over Blue's "It's just for tonight, you'll be fine" Red smiled at him then yawned.
"And you.." Blue said. Red gave him a puzzled look "Will you be fine?"
"Of course I'll b-" Blue cut him off,
"No, I'm serious. I'm just fine here and I'm being looked after, but you need to look after yourself too... You need to go back to the hotel and get some proper sleep" Blue looked at Red softly.
Red knew what he was saying was right, he hadn't been looking after himself like he should have the past couple of days, instead he'd been so fixed on making sure Blue was fine that he neglected himself. He agreed to go back to the hotel so he could shower, eat and sleep and also look after the Pokemon.
Red grabbed his bag and told Pikachu and Eevee to say goodbye until tomorrow.
"You'd better look after Arcanine and Pidgeot too" Blue joked,
"I will I will, I'll make sure they get time out of their Poke ball's and feed them".
Blue smiled as Red came over and put his arms around Blue, Blue melted into his embrace and hugged him back.
They stayed like that for a few moments then Red pulled back and planted a kiss on Blues forehead, Blue instantly felt warmer "I'll see you tomorrow" Red said softly.
He put Eevee into his Poke ball and Pikachu claimed up onto his shoulder, he turned back just before he left the room, Blue just smiled softly at him. It pained Red to leave him on his own in there but reassured himself by reminding himself that it wasn't for long.
