Red was excited to be going home once again, he'd spoken to his mother over the phone while traveling through the different regions, he met so many amazing people and Pokemon and had a wonderful time learning about the different regions and training in them.
At this point Red was now 17, turning 18 tomorrow and he wanted to surprise his mother with his return. He boarded the S.S. Tidal in Lilycove City and made his way to his cabin so he could drop off his things before exploring the boat, it was going to be an overnight stay since the boat had to stop at Slateport City before its voyage to Kanto.
He spent the rest of the day meeting and talking to other trainers on the boat, some recognised him and challenged him to battle. He may have won each battle but he did offer the trainers some rather helpful advice too.
After dinner that evening he went back to his cabin for the evening, he cleaned up and got himself into bed, Pikachu jumping up onto his stomach and making himself comfy; Red chuckled slightly, gently stroking Pikachu as he tried to sleep, but he couldn't.He was excited to go back home, but a wave of anxiety hit him, what if he ran into Blue? Would he want to? What will he say to him if he does run into him?
His mind raced that evening, more than usual, Red just put it down to his nerves, it had been a few years since he was last in Kanto after all.
"Gah, could you just leave it?" Blue asked his grandfather, frustrated.
"Blue, you can't keep leaving the gym for such long periods of time" Oak replied, getting annoyed at his grandson ignoring his responsibilities.
Blue got up and started walking toward the door of Professor Oaks lab, he put his hand on the doorknob
"I don't want to be the gym leader anymore, I want to have the freedom to explore more of this world, I don't have anything else left for me here" he exclaimed, opening the door and leaving without letting his grandfather reply.Professor Oak sighed, he knew his grandson meant what he said. He decided to give his cousin, Samson a call. He lived in the tropical paradise that was Alola, he thought it might do Blue some good if he went out there for a while.
Blue arrived home, completely ignoring his sister's "welcome home". He got to his room, leaning against his door as he closed it, letting out a sigh.
He looked up and caught a glimpse of his gym badges on a shelf across the room, he went over and picked up the case, opening it as his badges let off a slight twinkle as the moonlight hit them, a sudden rage hit him as he felt his eyes begin to tear up. He threw his badges across his room, they scattered as they fell out of the case. His sister heard the ruckus from downstairs, she gently made her way to his bedroom door, knocking lightly "Blue?" No reply, "Blue..." she opened his door slightly and caught a glimpse at the mess on the floor, Blue now on his bed facing away from her
"Daisy, leave me alone""Blue, I just wante-" Before she could finish she was interrupted,
"Please"."Oh-um, sure, I'm sorry" She left, shutting his door behind her.
As he heard her footsteps get quieter he turned over, his eyes red and damp, he thought about everything
"He took everything from me that day, EVERYTHING, and now I'm stuck here and where is he? Nowhere to be seen, he ju- he just left and that was it.." He Hasn't heard from Red since his defeat at the Indigo League, just stories from Oak and Dee (Red's mother) Blue liked to check up on her once in a while to make sure she was okay, but it hurt him not having Red there anymore. He felt so angry and upset when Red defeated him at the league, but he got over it, he got the job as leader of the Veridian Gym and continued to defeat trainers, a few lucky ones beating him. But it kept him busy, but as time went on he got bored so spent less time there... He didn't hear from Red again after that, maybe Red hated him, maybe Red thought it was Blue who hated him, but he didn't care, he just wanted his friend back, but his anger conflicted with his pain, Blue quietly sobbed himself into slumber.
