'Today's the day' Red thought to himself with a warm smile on his face, he was finally going home, back to Pallet Town. He was going to see his mother again, and Professor Oak and... He paused his mind for a few seconds, Blue... His expression changed slightly sour as he thought about Blue, their parting wasn't a pleasant one.
-Flashback-
Red had just finished off Lance's last Dragonite, the battle was intense but he could finally take a breather, he did it, almost. He had one more challenge, through the large doors behind Lance stood his last obstacle, the Champion of Kanto. He took a deep breath as he stepped towards the door, Poke Ball in hand, ready to face his opponent. as he took a step inside he saw him, Blue. Red was not at all surprised since Blue surpassed him at almost everything, seeing him stood there excited Red, after all this time he was ready, he was ready to face his friend, no, rival.
Red always thought of Blue as his friend but it became a lot harder to when their journeys started when they were younger they spoke and dreamed about the adventures they would have together, but that changed when they both decided they wanted to become the champion of Kanto, it sparked a harsh rivalry with Blue, he didn't like to lose.
Today was the day, Red would beat Blue and show him that he is not inferior to him, not after being pushed down by Blue throughout his journey through Kanto.
He could do this, he knew he could, he'd beaten all the gym leaders, the Elite 4 and he even took down Team Rocket, nothing was going to stop him now. They were both riled up and ready, eager to battle, it was time.
The battle was an intense one, Pokemon after Pokemon went down and in the end, Red took the final match up with his Charizard taking down Blue's Blastoise, the battle was his, he did it, he won.(Art source:https://mieudiary.tumblr.com/post/611340056608800769)
Blue congratulated him the best he could at that moment, after having his short-lived victory taken from him, by none other than Red, that really made him mad.
Not long after Professor Oak came through the doors, ready to congratulate Blue, but saw he was too late, Red took his place.
After praising Red Blue got what seemed like telling off to him, this beat him down more, he could feel his eyes welling up, he turned just before tears squeeze their way out and walked off.Red still remembers that day vividly, while he just fulfilled one of his dreams he felt bad for Blue, his just came crashing down, he felt like Blue hated him after that and they haven't spoken since.
Red filled his time up by training on Mount Silver for around 3 years, he didn't have contact with many people during that time aside from a few trainers who challenged him and lost.
until one day, a trainer named Gold approached and challenged him. Red accepted and expected an easy win as usual, but this boy was different, he offered a real challenge. It was a tough battle down to his Charizard and Gold's Typhlosion, it didn't take long before it was over, Gold beat him.
Red said nothing and left the summit of the mountain, he decided it was time, he packed up his belongings and decided he would travel home, to see his mother before deciding to travel to different regions to continue to grow and learn about Pokemon that were brand new to him.
When he arrived home to his mother she was delighted to see him again, after exchanging a few stories Red asked about Blue, his mother told him that Blue had taken up a position as the gym leader at the Viridian Gym after Giovanni's takedown.
Red contemplated visiting since it wasn't far away but he decided against it, why would Blue want to see him? He hates him, he knows it...
This pained Red a lot, he truly believed his childhood best friend hated him, and with good reason, he 'took everything from him' as Blue put it.After a couple of weeks of being at home, Red was ready to set off again, first to Johto, Sinnoh, and Hoenn last, he spent a nearly good 5 years between these regions learning about all kinds of Pokemon, meeting the other professors, gym leaders, champions and plenty of friends.
-Flashback End-He grinned softly to himself again at all the memories he had after leaving Kanto again, but he was ready to go home. "Ready Pikachu?", Pikachu cooed at him, excited to go home too, he jumped on Red's shoulder and they set off on their journey.
