Iris spends her time in the library when she wasn't hanging out with her friends, and now that she isn't hanging out with Tom as often, her schedule cleared up. The librarian, Madame Wood, noticed how often she came. They became close and Iris offered to help with her duties. Wood trusted her so much that she doesn't even bother giving her orders, she knew Iris had already done it. But there was one particular section that she hasn't allowed her to go in until now.

"Iris?" Wood said.

"Yes?" Iris said as she was in an aisle, placing books back.

"I will take care of these here. I want you to take that cart over there by the corner and place them back in the restricted section" Wood said.

"I'm not sure if I heard you correctly...did you say the restricted section? Are you sure?" Iris said.

Wood chuckled, "Yes, I am. I trust you enough not to go snooping around. Just don't open them and place them back, as you do here"

"Alright" Iris said.

"And one more thing. I want you to promise me that whatever you see or read in there, you mustn't reveal it to your peers...You got that?" Wood said.

"Well, yes, but why would I read them if I mustn't open them?" Iris said.

"You don't have to open the books to read them. The titles themselves can be quite revealing" Wood said.

"Why do we have a restricted section if we can't use them?" Iris said.

"This is only for authorized people. Not just professors and other Hogwarts officials, but people from the Ministry as well. We hold valuable items here, things you wouldn't even consider" Wood said.

Iris didn't know that Hogwarts would be a place for such things.

"Now, go on" Wood said.

Iris quickly went to the cart and pushed it into the restricted section. It was quiet and dark. Less noisy, and almost too quiet. There was a chill in the air, and signs of dust were too visible. Little tiny footsteps would be heard and she found herself looking behind her every second. She runs through the aisles as fast as she could so that she could get out. The place gave her the creeps.

As she placed the books back, she caught a glimpse of the titles. She knew she shouldn't have read them but once she saw them, she couldn't stop.

Books like: The History of Dark Arts, Curses and Jinxes for the Unkindled, Necromancy, Chants and Seances.

They all intrigued her. There were books about dark magic, powerful spells, creating massive and destructive weather changes. The possibilities were endless. She ponders why Hogwarts would agree to hold information like this.

She promised herself never to feel the greed for power, but the temptations were too great. Every now and then when she was allowed to go in, she takes a quick peek at the books that interest her. Little by little, she memorized a few snippets and made her own notes as she goes. The dark magic was something so forbidden that she couldn't help herself. She was fascinated by its history and incantations. She started to forget about Tom and Ava and found a new hobby to keep herself occupied.

Iris woke up a little early and left her dorm with her coat and scarf. She went outside of the school and was greeted by white crisp snow around her. She could not believe it was December already. She sat on the soft sheets of snow and in front of her was a frozen pond. It was a cold Friday morning, but the scenery was beautiful.  Iris thought about everything that has happened in the last four months. She met the most amazing person, Tom Riddle. He was everything to her, he understood her in every way. She had two amazing friends who cares for her. An enemy, Ava, whom Iris could not stand. She took Tom away from Iris. Not only for her hidden interest in him, but Ava pulled apart her best friend. After Ava told the girls that Tom and her kissed, she has seen them together at almost every corner she looks. Iris keeps telling herself that this is ridiculous drama and that no eleven-year-old should be dealing with this. But she can't fight her feelings, no matter how hard she tries and how she keeps herself occupied. A tear falls on her right cheek, but she left it there to fall freely.
