During a passing break, Ava came across Tom who was by the courtyard, reading a book.

"Hey, Tom" Ava took a seat next to him.

He wasn't fazed by her presence and continued to read.

"So, I've been having trouble with some Astronomy homework for the past few weeks, I heard you were the one to go to" Ava said.

"Who told you that?" he said still focused on his book.

"Does it matter? I just need some help, could we meet up at the library later?" she said.

"No" he said.

"Come on, Iris said you were good at it" she said.

"Iris said it?" he took off his attention from the book and gave his complete focus when Iris's name was involved.

"Well yeah, she mentioned that you helped her" she said.

He then returned back to his book and sighed, "Fine"

"Sweet" She left satisfied and had a smile on her face for the rest of the day.

After she left, Iris came upon Tom soon after. She carried a basket on her side. With books on the other. Tom quickly looked up from his book and gave a soft smile, feeling content with her presence.

"How was History of Magic?" Iris said as she takes a seat next to him.

"Boring as usual." He said as he closed the book and set it to the side.

She pulled out two apples from her basket and gave one to Tom.

"What's with this basket?" he said.

"Oh, Patty gave me a basket of food as a thank you for helping her with Charms." She said.

He nodded and took a bite.

"Do you want to hang out by the Lake once classes are over?" she said.

"Unfortunately, I can't. Ava asked me to help her with Astronomy." He said.

"Ava? Really?" Iris was genuinely confused.

"Yeah, I know. She told me that you said I was the one to go to" he said.

"I did? I don't remember. I probably brought up something like that when I was talking to them" she said.

"I'm thinking it should be quick." He said.

"Okay! I can just wait for you when you're finished." She said.

As she bites her apple, Fleamont runs towards her, "Iris, we'll be late for Charms!"

Iris looks up at the Clock Tower and saw that she had three minutes to get to class.

"Oh no, let's go!" she said.

"I'm skipping today's lecture, remember? The professor let me skip one lecture for that fire-making spell. I'll take the basket, just go" Tom said.

"Oh, thank you thank you" she hugged him and quickly ran to Fleamont as the two rushed.

Tom was taken aback by her gesture and never experienced a heartfelt hug. It was quick but sincere.

After classes were over and many of the students began to unwind. Iris went over to the lake and hung around with a book to pass the time as she waited for Tom. Minutes turned to hours as she patiently waited for him. It started to get dark and she gave up. Supper was coming up and she decided to retreat back to her dorm in hopes to find her roommates.

When she enters her dorm, she sees Augustana and Nicollete, surprised by her appearance.

"Oh, I didn't expect to see you at this time." Nicollete said.
