Iris was absent from the public, even to her friends. She was still present in school and up to date with her studies. No one has seen her other than the professors, with permission from Headmaster Dippet. The teachers loved her and her exceptional abilities, so they were fine with her missing the classes during the day as she is a good student.

Iris had been hiding in the Room of Requirements to recover her arm from Grindelwald. It was a curse he created himself. It is impossible to cure for people who aren't powerful and could lead to a slow death. Grindelwald knew that his curse won't kill Iris, but it will be a pain to remove.

In a private room in the hospital wing, Iris was growing weaker and paler. She sent an owl to an old friend during her travels. The man she contacted was very tall and slim. He looked to be near Dumbledore's age. He closed the door behind him and saw Iris, bedridden.

"Hello, Iris" he closed the door behind him.

"Hi, Gerard" she said with a raspy voice.

"Last time I saw you....you massacred an entire fleet of Aurors. But there's one thing that's different that sets you apart then and now" he said.

"Gee, I wonder what that could be" she said with much sarcasm.

"Well, your attitude surely never changed, but you are much freer. It's good to finally meet the real you" he said.

"I need your help" she said.

"This curse he put on you, I presume" he said.

"I don't know what to do" she said.

"It's nothing you can't handle" he said.

"I've given up. I even manage to steal Tom's potion he made that would cure severe wounds, but it doesn't apply to curses. I need your ancient magic" she said.

He chuckled, "My ancient magic? Why not yours?"

"I don't know if you've noticed, but I don't have it" she said.

"Were there times where you are able to see things no one else could?" he said.

"Yeah" she said.

"That's ancient magic. And you happened to inherit a specific one" he said.

"My Necromancy?" she said.

"Correct. You may not have mine or other wizards' ancient magic, but you have a specific one. Even an ounce of that magic in you could help. You just need to concentrate" he said

"Well, how do I do that?" she said.

"Many years ago, there were students in Hogwarts that ran through trials to hone this magic. When they finally grasped it, of course they took it for their own...and the Keepers thought it was selfish. But no...they never thought to realize that now no one like Ranrok can grasp it. And it is up to us to protect it and find more about it. There we researched that there isn't just this one ancient magic, but there are many derivatives of it. Necromancy is just one of the thousands if not millions of it. You're a smart girl, Iris. The one who wields the power will part the way. Just like many of us had. Only there you will find a cure for your illness" he said.

"Why must you speak with such wisdom? Why can't you do it?" she complained.

"Because we cannot grow as an individual if things are handed to us on a silver platter. You know better than that" he said before taking off.

She has been gone for weeks and Tom missed her presence once again. He felt the same way, when she was gone during their second year. He finally brought himself to speak with Dumbledore about Iris's whereabouts.
