A couple nights ago I got to wondering, what would happen if a Dragoncursed -- like Tolaan -- was able to survive the Ascension ritual, or was rescued? For one, they'd find out that ascending into a dragon wasn't possible for them, only someone with a dragon's soul could actually become a dragon. For two, they'd be permanently changed into a form in which they'd have no way of hiding that they were bearers of the cursed dragon blood.
It'd be rough, that's for sure, and someone would need to care for them until they were strong again. But I doubt there's only downsides to the ritual, an altered form must come with some kind of benefits or powers.
