I stood at the bar, making drinks and chatting with customers. I was looking pretty decent and I had been getting a lot of compliments about how I looked all night. I hadn't changed much. Just a nicer outfit any my hair had been done up in a high ponytail with a few loose hair in the front. It was different and fun. It was definitely not because Austin was possibly coming in at some point.

I turned around to grab some glasses, my back to the bar. I had only turned around for a moment before I heard my name being called. Glancing over my shoulder, I saw Austin sitting at the bar, smiling at me with the dumbest grin on his face.

I put my hand on my hip. "And what sort of time do you call this?"

"A good time," Austin replied. "How are you doing, Mack? I like the hair by the way."

"Thanks. Felt like doing something special," I replied. "And I've been doing great. What about you?"

"Tired as hell," Austin replied. "That show was a lot yesterday."

"Was it now?" I joked. "I wonder why."

Austin chuckled as he lifted his drink to his lips. "Funny. I like you. A lot, actually."

A thought came to mind and I wasn't sure if I should say it or not. I wanted to ask him out but he was a famous singer and I was a bartender with a kid. I probably wasn't his type anyways. But I didn't even have the chance to say any thoughts I had on the topic.

"I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me," Austin asked. "Just the two of us. I want to get know you more, Mack, and I think it'll be an interesting time."

I looked him in the eye and knew he was dead serious. It took me a moment to answer. "Yeah, I'd like that. Where should we go?"

"I don't know Chicago as well," Austin said. "I'll have to leave finding the date spot to you."

I thought for a second, trying to find a place that we could go. All the places that I was thinking of were public and Austin was a very public figure.

"We could go to the Chicago Culture Center or out for lunch," I suggested. "It's been awhile since I've been there."

"Let's do lunch," Austin said. "I can do tomorrow if that's okay."

I looked down at my watch. "Yeah, I'm off tomorrow and I'm free until two-thirty. I have to pick my daughter up at three."

"We'll go out for lunch then," Austin offered. "I've always wanted Chicago pizza."

I chuckled, leaning against the counter. "I know just the place then. There's a food truck that's to die for. It's kinda tucked away and doesn't have many people, despite it being the best place on the planet."

Austin smiled as he brought his beer up to his lips. "I'll trust you on that. I'll pick you up at 11am. How does that sound?"

I nodded, a smile creeping it's way onto my face. "Yeah, that sounds good. But you don't have my number."

Austin grabbed a napkin and pulled a pen out of his pocket. He scribbled his number on it, handing it over. He finished his beer, winked at me, and bid his goodbye. I looked down at the napkin, my smile turning softer. I was so glad I went to that concert with Jay.

Later that night, I got home and checked on Winter quickly. She was already out. Jay had already been updated on my lunch plans with Austin and was escatic. She had offered to take Winter to school so I could sleep in more and be well rested for my date but I declined. I was used to the limited about of sleep anyways. Plus I knew I was going to be too excited to sleep much. I was already planning on what I was going to wear but still had no idea.
