Austin was finally going to meet my parents as well as Anmol's parents and Winter's grandparents. The two families remained close after Anmol died. I wanted his parents to meet Austin as he was going to be around their granddaughter and I liked listening to their opinion.

I was getting ready when Austin walked in, kissing my temple. Putting my hair into a bun, I got up to check on Winter. She was already done and waiting downstairs. Austin and I joined her, getting our shoes on.

I drove us to my parents' house and saw Anmol's parents' car already there. After parking, I gripped the stirring wheel. My heart was racing and we hadn't even stepped foot into the house yet. I knew they were going to like Austin as he treated Winter and I well but I was still nervous. He was a famous rapper and I worked at a bar.

We got out of the car with Winter leading the way to the front door. She opened it, calling out a greeting. The voices in the kitchen replied.

"Mack, did you bring that new man of yours?" My mother, Katherine, asked as she came into view.

"He can hear you," I replied. "And this is Austin."

As Katherine gave Winter a side hug, she held out her hand for Austin. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Katherine, Mack's mom."

My dad walked in. "And I'm her dad, Ben."

Anmol's parents walked in, introducing themselves as Kimeya and Hassan. We went into the kitchen to eat after talking briefly in the front room. The table was already set and everything was set out. We started to eat, my family getting to know Austin as we sat. His hand was on my thigh as he answered every question that was thrown at him.

It was a lot of questions and just general talking. The plates were empty but no one got up to clear the table. Winter ended up sitting in my lap with her head resting on my shoulder.

After a bit of time, we got up to put the dishes away. Austin helped out in the kitchen and was friendly with my parents. When the dishes were done, we sat on the living room. Winter sat in my lap again and Austin sat next to me. He had his arm around my shoulders as we kept on the conversation.

It was getting late when we finally decided to leave. It took awhile to say goodbye to everyone but we finally got in the car. I drove us home and sent Winter to get ready for bed. Austin and I went into my room to change as well. I let my hair loose as I sat down on the edge of the bed.

Austin joined me. "I think the night went well. I think your parents like me."

"I think so, too," I said. "At least, I hope so. One of them will text me at some point and tell me their opinion."

Austin leaned against me. "You better tell me what that opinion is. I want my in-laws to like me."

"In-laws?!" I exclaimed. "We aren't even married anyways."

He put his arm around me. "I love you and I want to be with you. Your parents have to like me if I want to stay around."

I studied his face, smiling a little. "You're almost too good for me. I'm in love with you."

Austin kissed me. "I love you too, Mack. I'm going to marry you one of these days."

I laughed. "Yeah, okay."

Winter poked her head into the room. "Sorry to interrupt but Austin, can you read me a bedtime story?"

Austin got up immediately. "I would love to read you one, Miss Winter." He followed her out of the room and I heard him say, "Which one do you want me to read you?"

I smiled. They were getting along quite well. I hoped that they would and they were doing so phenomenally. I always wanted a partner that would get along with my daughter and treat her the best.

After a couple of minutes, Austin came back and got into bed with me. We talked for a bit before finally deciding to go to bed. My face was buried into Austin's shoulder as he held me close. He was a good man and treated us right. One of these days, we were getting married and there wasn't a doubt in my mind that it was going to happen.
