I sat in a lawn chair outside, reading a book. Winter and Austin were somewhere inside. I fully trusted him around her and had nothing to worry about. It was nearing lunchtime and I finally got up to go inside. The two of them were in the kitchen cooking and Winter looked up, smiling at me as I got closer.

"Mom, I'm having the best time here!" Winter exclaimed. "I want to stay forever."

I smiled. "That's great to hear, honey. What are you making?"

"Spaghetti," Winter replied. "Austin is showing me how to make it."

"Having fun?"

Winter nodded, a large smile on her face. "I love it here."

I rubbed her shoulders. "I'm glad. What have you guys been up to?"

"I'm teaching her how to play the guitar," Austin replied. "She's picking it up really well."

"You're making it sound harder than it is," Winter said.

Austin chuckled. "You're just talented."

Winter tossed her hair over her shoulder. "I was born that way."

We all laughed. I helped them finish lunch and we sat at the table. The three of us ate together and it felt like we were a family. It was then that I decided that I wanted to move there with Austin. It was a good option and what was best for Winter. I could only do so much with raising her. Jay was getting busier and busier with her own life and couldn't watch Winter as often on my days off. Her grandparents could only do so much too. Moving in with Austin would help us a lot. He offered to support us both until I was able to find a job and there were schools for Winter to go to.

Winter went off to her room to do whatever she wanted and I helped Austin clean up. I waited until we were mostly done with the dishes before I told Austin anything.

"Hey, baby, I put some thought into your offer about moving in," I said. "I want to take you up on that. I want to move in with you."

Austin grinned and stopped what he was doing to pick me up. He swung me around before setting me down, hugging me tightly.

He pulled away, placing his hands on the sides of my face. "I love you, Mack. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."

I snorted. "You act like we just got engaged."

Austin smiled. "That's going to be soon. Do you want to talk about how we're going to do that?"

I nodded. "Let's go to the room. I don't want Winter finding out until we get everything figured out."

We went upstairs to his room and started talking about us moving there. We decided that I would go back to Chicago alone while Winter would stay with Austin so she could get used to living in the area. It also helped that I was alone so I could get everything ready to be shipped. I was hoping that I could sell most of my stuff so it wasn't hard to move.

I had to leave my job though. I loved working at the bar and playing for the customers every couple of nights. I would find something else but I would miss the people that I worked with. It was going to be hard to leave everything that I knew. I felt especially bad for making Winter leave everything that she had known her entire life.

Austin and I decided to tell Winter at dinner. She was in her room for the rest of the afternoon and came down when we called her. After I finished eating, I looked over at Austin and he nodded so that I could start telling her about us moving.

"Winter, do you remember saying that you wanted to stay here?" I asked.

She nodded. "Yeah. What about it?"
